We’re so proud of our Fire Department members for the work they do on and off duty for the community.

The CRFD Community Fund was created by the members of the Fire Department to give back to this community that continually supports us. This is only one example of how we do that.

Last week, A-shift responded to “Fire Alarm w/smoke” sounding at one of our apartment buildings. E1 arrived to find the Fire Sprinklers had activated and extinguished a fire on the stove.

Cooking fires remain the leading cause of fires in Minnesota. To prevent this from happing to you:

-Never leave your cooking unattended. Turn the burner off and move the pan on off the burner if you need to step away.

-Keep a 3-foot safe zone around your stove that is free of combustible items.

-Keep your stove clean of grease, debris, and storage.

Luckily, all occupants got out of the building safe, and all but the fire unit were able to return to their units. This apartment had some water damage, however, the building and property was saved due to the Fire Sprinkler System.

C**n Rapids Police and Fire are asking for the public’s help following a suspicious fire Thursday morning.

Just after 9 a.m., crews responded to a fire inside a porta potty at Alder Park, 50 104th Ave. Nobody was injured but damage is estimated at $1,500.

If you have any information on this suspicious fire believed to be arson, please contact Detective Doug Barron at 763-767-6559. Fires not only endanger the lives of citizens, but also firefighters and other first responders.
