🚦 DON’T BLOCK THE BOX! 🚦

A friendly reminder to keep intersections clear- especially during busy school arrival and dismissal times.

Before entering an intersection, make sure there’s enough room for your vehicle to make it completely through. Blocking the intersection creates additional congestion, delays other drivers and can create a dangerous situation for everyone on the road.

If you can’t make it through, wait behind the line until traffic ahead clears.

Keep the box clear. Keep traffic moving. Keep our roads safe.

GREAT NEWS! Tatum has been adopted! Thank you to everyone for sharing and helping Tatum find her forever home.

Every day, members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office answer the call to protect our community.

Through Paws & Protectors, they’re answering another call by helping adoptable pets find the loving homes they deserve.

By pairing the people behind the badge with adoptable pets from Broward County Animal Care, we’re celebrating compassion, promoting responsible pet ownership, and sharing public safety tips that help keep our entire community safe.

Today, we’re featuring Detective Howard who serves on the Broward Sheriff’s Office VIPER/Fugitive Unit and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team, a highly trained county resource available to assist Cooper City and communities throughout Broward County during high-risk incidents

The VIPER/Fugitive Unit is responsible for serving violent felony arrest warrants, while the SWAT Team provides specialized tactical response during high-risk operations. Detective Howard’s dedication, specialized training, and commitment to protecting our community make him an outstanding addition to our Paws & Protectors series.

South Florida’s summer heat can be dangerous for our four-legged friends. Always provide fresh water and shade when your dog is outdoors, avoid walking them on hot pavement that can burn their paws. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws.

Our National Night Out & Back-to-School Bash was an incredible celebration of community, connection and public safety!

Families joined us for an evening packed with fun! From inflatables, games, face painting and balloon twisting to our school supply giveaway, photo booth, public safety demonstrations, community partner booths and so much more.

More importantly, the night gave our residents an opportunity to connect with the deputies, firefighters and community partners who serve them every day. Events like National Night Out remind us that strong communities are built through relationships, trust and working together.

A huge THANK YOU to the City of Cooper City, our community partners, volunteers and everyone who helped make this event possible. And, of course, thank you to all of the families who came out and celebrated with us!

We loved seeing so many familiar faces, and meeting plenty of new ones, as we wrapped up National Night Out and helped our students get ready for another great school year.

When public safety and a passion for helping animals come together, something pretty special happens.

That’s the mission behind Paws & Protectors, where members of the Broward Sheriff’s Office partner with Broward County Animal Care to help adoptable dogs find the loving forever homes they deserve. Along the way, we’re introducing the people behind the badge, promoting responsible pet ownership, and sharing public safety tips that help keep both people and pets safe.

Our Paws & Protectors series continues with Lieutenant Jake Morcus of Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, representing another important part of the public safety family—and joining him is Rio.

Lt. Morcus is part of the team of first responders who answer the call when our community needs help most. From fires and medical emergencies to vehicle crashes and other critical incidents, Fire Rescue personnel play an essential role in keeping our residents safe.

• Neutered male, approximately 45 lbs.
• Sweet and friendly with everyone he meets
• Loves treats and takes them gently
• Easy to walk and appears to be housebroken
• Can be social with other dogs with proper introductions

🔥 Fire & Pet Safety Tip

In an emergency, every second counts—and that includes keeping your pets safe. Make sure pets are included in your family’s emergency plan. Keep leashes or carriers easily accessible and let firefighters know immediately if a pet may still be inside your home. Never re-enter a burning building to rescue a pet; allow trained first responders to handle the rescue safely.

The bell is ringing, buses are rolling, and thousands of students are making their way to school.

⚠️ Slow down.
🚸 Watch for pedestrians.
🚌 Stop for school buses.
📵 Stay distraction-free.

One safe choice can protect a child's future. Let's make this school year a safe one for every student.

School is back in session, and so is school bus safety.

Every day, children rely on drivers to make safe decisions as they travel to and from school.

When a school bus displays its stop arm and flashing red lights:
🛑 STOP.
👧 Allow children to safely cross the street.
🚫 Never pass a stopped school bus unless you’re traveling in the opposite direction on a divided highway with a physical barrier.

A few moments of patience can save a life. Let’s work together to keep every student safe this school year.

🚨 FOUND DOG ALERT 🐾

This sweet female dog was found in the area of Stirling Road and SW 116th Avenue.

She is very friendly and was checked for a microchip, but no microchip was found.

She is currently safe at a resident’s home while we work to locate her owner.

If this is your dog, or you recognize her and know who she belongs to, please contact the BSO Cooper City District Office at 954-435-2000.

Please be prepared to provide proof of ownership (photos, veterinary records, or other identifying information) when claiming the dog.

Please help reunite this sweet girl with her family by sharing this post! ❤️🐶

🛑 Stop for school buses with flashing stop arms.
