That’s a perfect little nature mystery — and gray treefrogs are expert at creating it. Look below to learn more! ⬇

On humid nights, especially after rain, they love to tuck themselves under porch ledges, windowsills, and air conditioning units where it stays cool and damp. Their calls are surprisingly loud for such small frogs, so it’s common to hear the trilling and step outside only to see… absolutely nothing. They blend in incredibly well with siding, brick, or even metal surfaces.
It makes total sense they’d hang around your place: warm nights, lots of insects, and safe little hideouts create a cozy frog café. And you’re right about the calling — males can push out those rapid trills dozens of times per minute when conditions are right. It’s their version of “hey, ladies, I’m over here!”
Have you spotted them often around your porch or windows, or was this one of those rare surprise encounters? 🐸

Caught inside the park as he takes flight, this Red-shouldered Hawk is right at home among the marshes and wetlands scattered throughout Doctors Creek. His diet includes small animals such as mice and voles, along with reptiles and amphibians like snakes, frogs, and lizards. Territorial by nature, these hawks prefer high vantage points that allow them to zero in on prey with remarkable accuracy. As you explore our three miles of hiking trails, you may spot this impressive bird while enjoying the surrounding nature.
