Yesterday morning, we had the honor of attending three parades in recognition of Memorial Day.
As we near the eve of the 250th anniversary of our nation's founding, we celebrate who we are as a people; diversity, inclusion, freedom, and the right to be who we each individually are. Simultaneously, we recognize these and other foundational principles that forged our great American nation were not the sole culmination of long letters written to the King of England, but rather the sacrifices in blood, passion and perseverance set forth by ordinary Americans from the first shot at Lexington and Concord, all the way through to our present day. In each successive conflict from our first, our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents have been willing to, and have, sacrificed themselves and everything they hold dear for the guarantee of our tomorrow, without having met everyone they gave that next day to. We recognize and honor them for their sacrifices for our today, tomorrow, and our future; and we hope that yesterday you did the same, and continue to remember the brave and selfless soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen laid to rest in the name of the American people.
