DPW Maintenance Personnel

The City of Coopersville, MI (population – 4,850), is seeking a qualified applicant for the position as Maintenance Personnel within the Department of Public Works ($22.51/hr. to $27.09/hr., DOQ.) Plus, license bonuses above hourly rate for water/sewer/storm water certifications. This person will assist in installing, maintaining, and/or repair of city sanitary and storm sewers, water lines, plowing and sweeping streets, sidewalks, maintaining parks, buildings, trees, traffic signs. Operate and maintain a variety of vehicles and mechanical equipment. Position will require the operation of heavy equipment and trucks. An insurable driving record is required and CDL Class B License is mandatory within six months of hire. This is a full-time position with required, scheduled on-call evening and weekend hours.

🚧 TRAFFIC ADVISORY – MAIN STREET LANE CLOSURES 🚧

As part of the planning and design process for the Main Street Bridge Replacement Project, currently scheduled for 2028, geotechnical soil borings will be conducted on Main Street near the bridge during the week of Monday, July 27, 2026.

During this work, one lane of traffic will be closed at various times. Flaggers will be on-site to safely direct traffic through the work zone.

Please plan for minor delays, slow down when traveling through the area, and use caution for the safety of workers and fellow motorists.

The City of Coopersville appreciates your patience and cooperation as we complete this important work to prepare for the future replacement of the Main Street Bridge.

🚧 Eastmanville Street Construction Update 🚧

We want to keep residents informed regarding the ongoing work on Eastmanville Street.

As crews began milling the roadway, it became apparent that the condition of the road is significantly worse than originally anticipated. Additional evaluation is needed to determine the most appropriate long-term repair.

At this time, the contractor will continue with the planned two-inch milling operation so that Eastmanville Street can be reopened to traffic. However, the road will not be immediately repaved until the underlying condition of the roadway is further assessed and a solution is identified.

Once reopened, motorists should expect an unfinished road surface and are encouraged to use caution while traveling through the area.

We understand this delay is frustrating and appreciate everyone's patience as we work to ensure that the repairs are completed properly and provide a long-lasting roadway. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

🚧 ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE – MILL STREET & EASTMANVILLE STREET 🚧

The City of Coopersville would like to inform residents that the surfaces of Mill Street and Eastmanville Street are tentatively scheduled to be milled on Monday, June 22, and Tuesday, June 23, weather permitting.

🏠 Residents will be able to access their homes throughout construction. However, there may be short delays if work is taking place directly in front of your driveway. We appreciate your patience.

📅 Anticipated paving schedule: ✅ Eastmanville Street – by Friday, July 3 ✅ Mill Street – by Friday, July 10
All dates are weather dependent.

🚗 Please do not park vehicles on the roadway during milling and paving operations to allow construction crews to complete the work safely and efficiently.

🚂 Railroad Crossing Improvements Once the intersection of Danforth Street and First Street is reopened, Eastmanville Street will be temporarily closed so crews can repair and improve the railroad crossings. Additional information regarding this closure will be provided as it becomes available.

⚠️ Please slow down, obey all traffic control devices, and watch for workers and equipment in the construction zone.

Ottawa County's Residential Field Appraiser, Bill Ramsey, will be working in the City of Coopersville during the month of May. It is an exterior only visit and a door hanger will be left on your front door if you are not home. Postcards were mailed to the addresses that will receive a visit.

Beginning the Week of May 11th through June 30th, Plummer’s Environmental will begin the annual preventative maintenance cleaning of the City’s Sanitary lines. The sanitary sewer lines highlighted in green on the attached map are selected areas to be cleaned.
It is possible you may hear “gurgling” noises within your drains, and you may encounter brief disruptions. We encourage all affected users to keep the toilet lids closed and sump area drains covered during this preventative maintenance cleaning.
