CASA of Coos and Curry Counties

CASA of Coos and Curry Counties Help end the cycle of child abuse and neglect in Coos and Curry Counties by supporting CASA. CASAs are volunteers who advocate for children in foster care.

If you are interested in being a CASA volnteer please contact us! CASA helps children in Coos and Curry Counties by recruiting and training volunteer advocates to advocate for abused and neglected children. Advocates make sure children don't get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system of child welfare or languish in foster care. Advocates stay with each case until it is closed, and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home.

The potential of better treatments of neurobiological brain disorders is exciting and fascinating. I'm most excited about how these findings could eventually lead to better treatments for depression and addiction. When your brain is driving such disorders, it's not merely a self-discipline issue. It's a fight against your own brain and wiring making it exponentially more difficult to overcome depression and addiction compared to someone who doesn't have these disorders. From a layperson's perspective, understanding these basics could improve support for the scientific community, government funded study, and improvements in social and personal oppressors.

Imagine a world where a parent could be more easily treated for their brain disorder, reducing or even eliminating barriers to being able to nurture their children.

MIT researchers created a new atlas of the neurons found within the brain’s striatum. This could help scientists devise new treatments for Huntington’s disease, schizophrenia, and substance use disorder.

We had a wonderful weekend at Camp Myrtlewood for our annual Foster Families camp! Legends Camp was so much fun for the kids, so many smiles, so many fun activities. At one point I got to sit down and kick up my feet in a comfy chair; what a peaceful place. Thank you to Advanced Health for their grant to help fund our camp. Thank you to OCT for their fundraiser that raised some dollars and lots of cool camp stuff for the kids, including new sleeping bags, flashlights, glow sticks, snacks, etc. Bigfoot Beverage set us up with a pile of soda and water. Camp Myrtlewood staff were amazing! They served up delicious home made food and provided a really cool place to enjoy with our kids and families. Thank you to our amazing South Coast Foster Care Alliance for once again stepping up and showing up!

💜 We Need More CASA Advocates! 💜

Every child deserves someone in their corner. Someone who listens. Someone who shows up. Someone who makes sure their voice is heard.

Right now, children in our community are waiting for a CASA volunteer to step forward and advocate for them.

Being a CASA advocate means walking alongside a child during one of the most difficult seasons of their life—building trust, being a consistent presence, and helping ensure that their needs and best interests remain at the heart of every decision.

You don’t have to be a superhero. You don’t need all the answers. You simply need a heart for children and a willingness to show up.

✨ One caring adult can change the trajectory of a child’s life.
If you’ve ever wondered how you can make a meaningful difference in the life of a child, this could be your moment.
💜 Become a CASA advocate. Be the one who shows up. Be the one who speaks up. Be the one who stays.
