Welcome to Southwestern Oregon Community College and our SWOCC Athletics Laker Nation page. We have 17 teams in 10 sports which consists of: baseball, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's golf, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's soccer, softball, men's and women's track & field, volleyball which are all part of the Northwest Athletic Conference as well as men's

and women's wrestling and men's and women's swimming, which are part of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). NWAC is the parent organization for thirty-five (35) community colleges in the states of Washington and Oregon. and SWOCC has the one of the largest departments with the most sports in the NWAC. Southwestern athletes are called Lakers and proudly wear red and blue while competing. http://swoccathletics.com/

Congratulations to Yuta Kosaka of Men’s Swimming and Irelyn Gibbs of Women’s Soccer for being named the Scholar Athletes of the Year.

These prestigious awards are named in honor of the institution’s first male coach, Bill Holmes, and first female coach, Cheri Robinson.

The awards were presented by John Speasl, a former Athletic Director, coach, and faculty member. John dedicated 38 years of service to the college and continues to return each year to present these special honors.

Huge congratulations to our Women’s Golf team on an incredible finish! ⛳️

The team finished tied for 3rd, and freshman standout Grace Callas brought home the individual championship! She shot 80-84 over two days for a total of 164, winning by 4 strokes!

Coach Wood was also named Co-Coach of the Year for Women’s Golf!! What an amazing accomplishment and a season to be proud of! 👏🏆

Huge congratulations are in order for the Laker Track & Field Team. They have 3 student-athletes named NWAC Athletes of the Week – April 13-19, 2026!!!

Miles Baxter, Men's Field - SW Oregon
Freshman • Jumps
North Bend HS • North Bend, OR

Baxter had some beautiful attempts in the men's high jump on Saturday at the SOU Raider Invitational where he ultimately cleared 6 feet 6 3/4 inches (2.00 meters) to claim first place. He moved up to No. 4 in the event in the NWAC this season.

Bryce Davis, Men's Track - SW Oregon
Sophomore • Sprints/Hurdles
Las Vegas HS • Las Vegas, NV

Davis ran collegiate personal bests in the 100m (10.83) and 200m (22.18) at the Southern Oregon University Raider Invitational in Ashland. He placed 3rd overall in the 100m and 2nd in the 200m.

Laeloni Tobey, Women's Field - SW Oregon
Freshman • Throws
Mcdermitt HS • Mcdermitt, NV

Tobey threw a collegiate best in the Discus at Southern Oregon's Raider Invitational with a throw of 33.24m. She was the second best NWAC thrower of the day, placed 9th overall, and her improvement is almost four feet better than her previous best.
