Gold Mountain Creek Fire

Firefighters continue to make steady progress on the Gold Mountain Creek Fire. As of today, resorces have completed a hose line 100% around the fire and have mopped up 25-30 feet around the entire perimeter. Fire crews will continue to be engaged in mop-up operations over the next few days to continue securing the entire footprint of the fire.

This will be the last update unless conditions significantly change.

Gold Mountain Creek Fire, 15 miles East of Powers, OR 8/11/26:

CFPA resources responded to a report of fire in the Gold Mountain Creek area East of Powers early this morning. The fire is estimated to be 15-20 acres, firefighters are actively engaged with containment lines 100% around the fire.

The topography and fuels are creating a challenge, however resources are making steady progress.

Fire crews will be actively engaged throught the day and a night shift has been ordered.

Resources assigned to day shift
4- Type 6 engines
2- Type 4 engines
2-CFPA tenders
CFPA & DFPA hand crews
1-Type 2 Hand crew
As well as multiple aircraft and Industry fire resources.

No homes are currently threatened, but the situation is being constantly monitored.

The fire is currently under investigation.

Industrial Fire Precaution Levels (IFPL) Decrease
Monday, August 10th, at 12:01 a.m.

IFPL in zones CS-2, CS-5, SK-1 and SK-2 will decrease to Level 2. All zones will now be at Level 2.

The Industrial Fire Precaution Levels system is designed to prevent wildfires by regulating work completed in the woods.

Regulated Use Closure levels will remain High (Yellow) district-wide. Lands affected by this declaration include state, private, county, unincorporated towns, and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) forestlands in Coos, Curry and Western Douglas counties.

You are invited to come spend an afternoon with Smokey Bear and your local wildland firefighters!
CFPA festivities include free ice cream, hot dogs, drinks, chips, games for the kids, pictures with Smokey Bear, tours of the firefighting equipment, prevention and public awareness booths.
Our goal for the open house is to educate the public on wildland fire safety, prevention, and public awareness. We would like to take this opportunity to show how CFPA works and serves in our local community. So we would like everyone of all ages to come join us for an afternoon of fun.

A red flag warning is in effect for the eastern parts of Coos County and Curry County, as well as the majority of Douglas County.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. These conditions promote rapid spread of fire. Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.

Fire Season Increases to High on Monday

The fire danger level on lands protected by Coos Forest Protective Association (CFPA) District will increase to High (Yellow) Monday, July 20th, at 12:01 a.m. Industrial Fire Precaution Levels (IFPL) will remain at Level 1 in CS1 and CS4, and Level 2 in CS2, CS5, SK1 and SK2. Lands affected by this declaration include state, private, county, unincorporated towns, and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) forestlands in Coos, Curry and Western Douglas counties.

Beginning Monday, July 20th, at 12:01 AM, the following public fire restrictions will be adjusted:
Campfires, cooking fires, warming fires and other open fires are only allowed at designated, Hosted, and Managed Campgrounds.
Non-Industrial power saw use allowed before 10AM and after 8PM.
Cutting, grinding and welding of metal is allowed before 10AM and after 8PM.
Mowing dried, cured grass is allowed before 10AM and after 8PM.
Any other spark emitting internal combustion engines not previously mentioned is allowed before 10AM and after 8PM.

All other public fire restrictions will remain in effect.

Tomorrow Friday 7/17/2026 two agricultural burns will be taking place within our district

Agricultural Burn – Circle City Ln, Bandon

CFPA will be assisting with a prescribed burn in the Circle City Ln area south of Bandon. This planned operation is part of ongoing efforts to improve wildlife habitat and support healthy ecosystems.

When: Friday 7/17/2026
Where: Circle City Ln, South of Bandon

Please Note:
Smoke will be visible from Highway 101, Bandon, Langlois Mtn, and surrounding areas.
While smoke is expected, crews will be working to minimize impacts to nearby communities and traffic visability.

CFPA will be assisting with an agricultural burn on Highway 42S. This planned operation is part of ongoing efforts to improve grass health, improve wildlife habitat and support healthy ecosystems.

Where: Highway 42S, 4 miles west of Coquille

Please Note:
Smoke will be visible from Highway 42S, Coquille, and surrounding areas.
While smoke is expected, crews will be working to minimize impacts to nearby communities and traffic visability. CFPA and landowner resources will be on scene.

Monday, July 13th, at 12:01 a.m. Zones CS2, CS5, SK1, SK2 will increase to Level 2. The IFPL level in zones CS1 and CS4 will remain at Level 1.
