Here’s a cool story. A-shift was called out this weekend to take a burglary of a vehicle report. Hazel, who had a birthday this weekend, had left her wallet in the unlocked vehicle. Unfortunately, the birthday money she had received was in a wallet that was taken. A-shift officers took it upon themselves to go get Hazel a birthday card filled with some money collected from shift mates. Way to go A-Shift! #BetterTogether, #OneCommunity

While out for a bike ride this morning, I came across these amazing kiddos. I was so touched when they took the time to wave at me, a total stranger, while passing. A simple act of kindness during these troubling times. The world needs more of this right now. I invited them to come see me at work. Thanks to Ochuko Dasimaka, her children Jayden, Jeremy, Janita, and Grandma Grace. #OneCommunity, #BetterTogether, #Coppell

Coppell has an avid runner population. Here are a few safety tips to remember when going out for a jog. These apply to the parks and/or the sidewalks of Coppell.

1. If possible, run with a partner. Power in numbers.

2. Ditch the earbuds or wear only one.

3. Let someone know where you will be running and when you should be finished. Use GPS locators like “Find a friend”. There are plenty of runner apps online which feature ways for loved ones to monitor your run.

4. Run in populated, well lighted areas.

5. Run with a personal safety device such as pepper spray or an audible alarm.

6. Have your cell phone on you.

7. Change up your running routes.

8. Wear bright clothing.

9. Take a self defense class of some type. Be prepared and be aware! Be a tough target!
