Today, we attended the Police Memorial Service joined by our fellow consortium police agencies, Carrollton Texas Police Department, Addison Police Department, and Farmers Branch Police Departmen

This annual tradition echoes the true purpose of National Police Week. Honoring those who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

During the ceremony, each police chief read the names of the fallen officers from their agencies. The fallen Coppell officers that were honored were Officer Donald Swearingin (EOW 12/12/1972) and Officer Michael Johns (EOW 12/28/2001). We are humbled to share this moment with our partnering agencies so those who gave the ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Thank you to Farmer's Branch Police Department for hosting the beautiful ceremony.

This week our Citizen's Police Academy Coppell Alumni Association volunteers worked behind the scenes to provide a meal to every team member of the Coppell Police Department in honor of National Police Week, including all of our day shift, night shift, and the school resource officers who work on school campuses.

We are so thankful for what our volunteers do, and their generosity means the world to us. Whether they are giving their time or providing a meal, their unwavering support is what makes Coppell so special. Thank you!

Respect. Honor. Remember.

This week is National Police Week. Established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, National Police Week was created to honor the law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities and to recognize the dedication of those who wear the badge each and every day.

Thank you to all of those who serve, both past and present. We are grateful for your service and sacrifice.

Today, we celebrate the moms, grandmothers, stepmoms, guardians, and mother figures who make our community stronger every single day.

From the mothers serving in uniform to the moms supporting loved ones behind the badge, your compassion, strength, patience, and sacrifice never go unnoticed. Thank you for the countless ways you care for your families, uplift others, and help shape the next generation.

Happy Mother's Day from all of us at the Coppell Police Department! ๐ŸŒท๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™€๏ธ

We spent some time conducting a driving training for our Citizen's On Patrol this weekend let by our traffic team! The training was designed to simulate real-life parking and driving scenarios, pushing their limits and stretching their driving skills as they maneuvered through various cone patterns. It did not disappoint!

We are grateful to their commitment to the craft and have no doubt that these skills will show up as they drive the streets. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Our officers recently participated in the 2026 Texas Peace Officer Memorial Ride, which honors the lives of fallen law enforcement officers that have died in the line of duty.

Over two days, Officer Benson rode 150 miles between San Antonio to Austin, Texas, while being escorted by Officers Odean and Egger. The fundraising event is held annually with all proceeds supporting the fallen officersโ€™ families.

The Coppell Police Department has had two line of duty deaths that were commemorated for the ride:

- Michael Johns, End Of Watch 12-28-2001
- Donald Swearingin, End Of Watch 12-12-1972

We are so humbled to be able to honor these officers and show they are not forgotten. ๐Ÿ’™
