Current scam
The victim receives a knock at the front door. The suspect asks if the victim has received a letter about repairs to their water pipes. The victim says no, but the suspect asks the victim to check the pipes in the back yard. While the victim does this, a second suspect enters the house and takes valuables. The suspects then quickly leave. Don’t let this happen to you. Call the City of Coppell Water Department BEFORE you allow anyone in the house. Immediately call the police if you haven’t received notification of city owned infrastructure being repaired or replaced. City of Coppell employees will have official identification badges.

Some good info from our friends at Animal Services.

With the holiday weekend coming up, please remember pet safety. This weekend and the days following are generally some of the busiest days of the year for animal shelters. Even the most well behaved, socialized pets can get startled by fireworks or other events on a weekend like this and escape from their owners control or even bite someone. Please leave them at home in a secure location if you plan to attend a public event, this weekend.

Below is some helpful information to share.

Here’s a good story we wanted to share with everyone. Early Monday morning we received a call regarding multiple suspects burglarizing vehicles in the 600 Block of E. Parkway Blvd. Officers responded and were able to locate and recover a vehicle stolen in Dallas. Multiple unlocked vehicles were found to have been burglarized. While officers were taking the burglary reports, an employee of a local daycare called our dispatch and advised multiple suspects were found inside the business and had fled the location. Officers were able to locate all four suspects and take them into custody without incident. A fifth person, who had arrived to pick up the suspects, was detained and arrested on another agency’s outstanding warrant. The four suspects from the vehicle burglaries were linked to the burglary of a building. A big thank you to the citizen who saw something and said something. Congrats to the officers and detectives who responded to the scene and located the suspects. Over the past several months, many of our apartment complexes and residential areas have been targeted for unlocked vehicles. This offense also highlights the need for everyone to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables. Communities take care of communities and this was a team effort. #Teamwork, #Community
