Coppell ISD Education Foundation Building a solid foundation…that’s what the Coppell ISD Education Foundation is all about.

The Coppell ISD Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to generating and distributing resources to the CISD to provide funding for new innovative programs. Although the Foundation operates independently from Coppell ISD, the Foundation contributes critical financial and material support to our Coppell schools. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation chartered in June

2000 to provide financial support in addition to that which is provided by the Coppell ISD operating budget.

Think being an architect is all about math? Jake Salo would tell you the skill that takes you furthest might surprise you: drawing ✏️

At the 2026 Interactive Institute, Jake, a project architect at Corgan Inc. who's spent 10 years designing schools right here in DFW, is putting students in the designer's seat. They'll build towers and shake them on a real earthquake table, sketch and pitch their own buildings, and rebuild a teammate's Lego design using only written plans. The kicker? No talking allowed!

It's a crash course in how real structures get imagined, communicated, and built. This is hands-on STEAM. Real professionals, real tools, real "whoa!"

Sessions like this are why the Interactive Institute exists, and your support helps CEF bring real-world STEAM to more Coppell ISD students. Give today at www.coppellisdef.org

What if bringing a species back from extinction wasn't science fiction? 🦣

At the 2026 Interactive Institute, Dr. Darya Tourzani, a reproductive biologist at Colossal Biosciences – the company working on de-extinction and protecting endangered species, is turning students into conservation scientists for a day.

They'll build a living ecosystem, then face the real curveballs the pros deal with: habitat loss, invasive species, and even extinction events. Their job? Develop a recovery plan and defend it.

Dr. Darya hopes that the next big breakthrough comes from a student sitting in that very room :) This is hands-on STEAM. Real professionals, real tools, real "whoa!"

Who's the youngest person you think gets a cochlear implant?

The answer is often a baby, as young as 6 months old!👂

At the 2026 Interactive Institute, Dr. Walter Kutz (otologist & neurotologist at UT Southwestern Medical Center, who performs 50+ cochlear implant surgeries a year) is showing students how the ear actually works, why some people can't hear, and how a device tiny enough to fit inside the inner ear can recreate thousands of sounds.

The twist students love: the implant doesn't do the hearing...the brain does! The device just hands it the signal.

Students won't just hear about it. Thanks to co-sponsor Cochlear Corporation, they'll place cochlear implant electrodes on real and simulated models — the same precision work that happens in an operating room.
This is hands-on STEAM. Real professionals, real tools, real "whoa!"

Summer is almost here, and so is the battle to keep your kid off the couch. We can help 😄 coppellisdef.org/interactive-institute/

Interactive Institute is a 5-day, half-day STEAM camp where rising 5th–9th graders spend their mornings doing something they'll actually want to talk about at dinner. Each session is designed and led by local professionals, so students aren't just learning about real-world careers; they're experiencing them firsthand!

And yes, we said 5th graders. We've expanded the program this year to welcome incoming 5th graders for the first time! This year's sessions are facilitated by:

AstraZeneca
Baylor Scott & White Health
Brazos Creative
Championship Martial Arts - Coppell Taekwondo Academy
Colossal Biosciences
Coppell ISD Child Nutrition
Corgan Inc.
Microsoft
S2 Art Studio
UT Southwestern Medical Center

They'll be back home by lunchtime — curious, energized, and maybe even inspired
