CCISD's Emergent Bilingual program is hosting a workshop on Engaging in Early Academic Skills to bridge home and school for K-1 students next week.

Session 1 is 5-6 p.m. Oct. 22nd and will be on Letters, Sounds & Early Literacy Foundations. It will take place in Clements/Parsons Elementary School's Room 6 and parents should park near the Cafeteria.

Sessions will include modeling of skills and allow parents to practice them before going home, so you know exactly how to continue practicing the skill with your child at home. Upcoming sessions: Early Writing Skills on Dec. 10th, Early Math Skills on Feb. 4th and Beginning Reading Skills on April 8th.

: What does financial oversight look like in Texas Public Schools? In addition to community and trustee oversight, Texas school districts receive two forms of state financial oversight.

1️⃣ All public school districts in Texas are required to get an external audit of its entire financial picture each year. The audit is then presented to the Board of Trustees by the auditor, before being sent to the TEA and published to the district website. Auditors look at every expense in the district, ensuring all laws and guidelines are followed by the district.

2️⃣ The audit is one indicator evaluated by the TEA in the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas. This evaluation of each district's financial management includes more than 15 indicators and is presented to the trustees each year. This year marks the fourth consecutive year where CCISD earned a perfect score on FIRST.
