Today we remember and honor Officer Billy Howard Stephens.

End of Watch: Saturday, November 23, 1957 Age: 26/ Tour: 4 years Cause: Motorcycle Crash

Officer Stephens was killed in a motorcycle accident while he and another officer escorted a local high school football team to a game. Another vehicle made an illegal left turn in front of the officers, causing the collision. Both officers had lights and sirens on at the time. Officer Stephens had been with the agency for four years and was survived by his wife and infant daughter.

The Coral Gables FOP Lodge 7 is devastated to share the news of the senseless and tragic murder of Miami-Dade Sheriff Office Deputy, Devin Jaramillo.

Devin was a dedicated member of the CGPD family, serving our community faithfully before joining the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office in 2024 to continue his family legacy at MDSO. Today, he was violently taken from us in Southwest Miami-Dade.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the Jaramillo Family, the entire Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, and our brothers and sisters at the Coral Gables Police Department.

On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, the Miami Beach community suffered a heartbreaking loss. Officer David Cajuso, a 33-year-old motorcycle officer and 10-year member of the Miami Beach Police Department, tragically passed away in the line of duty following a crash near I-75 and the Gratigny Parkway in northwest Miami- Dade. Despite the rapid response and his transport to Ryder Trauma Center, David did not survive his injuries.

David was so much more than his uniform. He was a devoted husband and a proud father to three young children, ages 2, 3, and 5. Coming from a family of first responders-his father serves with Miami Beach Fire Rescue-David dedicated his life to protecting others. Even after surviving a serious on-duty accident in 2017, he returned to serve with courage and humility. Those who knew him describe a kind, compassionate, and steady presence-a man who led with quiet strength, humor, and heart.

Today, we honor the memory of Sergeant Alfred Terrinoni, who made the ultimate sacrifice on October 12, 1980. At just 38 years old, with 16 years of dedicated service to the Coral Gables Police Department, Sergeant Terrinoni tragically lost his life in the line of duty while trying to stop an armed robbery.

So proud to attend the Mayor Dorothy H. Thomson Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony today. We were honored to be there to celebrate Mayor Thomson, who made history as the first and only female elected Mayor in Coral Gables' 100-year history. It was especially meaningful to stand alongside our very own Officer Robert Thomson, a 30-year veteran of the Coral Gables Police Department, as his mother was recognized for her incredible legacy. We thank the City of Coral Gables for this beautiful tribute to a true trailblazer.

Today, we pause to remember the nearly 3000 lives lost and the more than 6,000 injured on September 11, 2001. We will never forget the immense courage of the first responders—our fellow police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel—who ran toward danger to save others. Their sacrifice and bravery will forever be in our hearts. We will never forget.
