It is with profoundly heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Coral Gables Police Dispatcher Tracy Bowen (ID #6685), who has sadly left us after a courageous health battle. 🖤🕊️

For over 30 years, Tracy was a steady, calming presence for the City of Coral Gables. To the officers out on the streets, she was our lifeline. We will always remember her for the fierce way she took care of us, always watching our backs from the communications center and making sure everyone made it home safe at the end of their shift.

None of us will ever forget her iconic British accent coming over the radio—a voice that brought comfort, warmth, and familiarity to us during the most chaotic of times.

Our deepest condolences go out to Tracy’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Today we honor the memory of Sergeant Alfred Terrinoni.

Sergeant Alfred Terrinoni was shot and killed while working an off-duty security job for a local restaurant.

He was returning to his car after making a night deposit when four suspects attempted to rob him. When he identified himself as an officer and attempted to stop the robbery he was shot.

Two of the suspects were convicted and sentenced to life. One was paroled on May 15, 2008.

Sergeant Terrinoni had served with the Coral Gables Police Department for 16 years. He is survived by his mother and two brothers.

🇺🇸  SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Twenty-five years later, we still remember exactly where we were when the world changed.

We remember the lives that were taken. We remember the families who never got to say goodbye. We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and countless civilians who ran toward danger while everyone else was trying to get away.

And we remember the 343 firefighters and 72 law enforcement officers who never came home.

But there is another part of September 11 that is worth remembering.

Some of the police officers wearing the badge today weren’t even born when the towers fell. They learned about that day in school. They watched the videos. They heard their parents and grandparents talk about where they were. They know the history, but they didn't live it.

Yet they chose this profession.

They put on the same badge. They answer the same calls. They run toward the same danger. And every day, they carry forward the responsibility of those who showed the world what courage looks like on September 11, 2001.

To our younger officers: you may not remember that day, but you are part of its legacy.

To those who were there, those who responded, those who lost someone, and those who continue to carry the scars of that day, we remember you.

And to the men and women who never made it home:

Your sacrifice is not forgotten. Your names are not forgotten. And the next generation of officers will continue to carry your memory forward.

Sergeant Homer Collins Barton
End of Watch: 06/06/1938

Today, we honor the memory of Sergeant Homer Collins Barton, who made the ultimate sacrifice on June 6, 1938.

At 37 years old, with 11 years of dedicated service to the Coral Gables Police Department, Sergeant Barton was tragically shot and killed while serving a traffic warrant. Struck without warning by a suspect’s sh***un fire, he was taken to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. His bravery and commitment to our community will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, hero.
