End of Watch: 06/06/1938

Today, we honor the memory of Sergeant Homer Collins Barton, who made the ultimate sacrifice on June 6, 1938.

At 37 years old, with 11 years of dedicated service to the Coral Gables Police Department, Sergeant Barton was tragically shot and killed while serving a traffic warrant. Struck without warning by a suspect’s shotgun fire, he was taken to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. His bravery and commitment to our community will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, hero.
