BREAKING šŸ“£ Commissioner Melissa Castro Commissioner Melissa Castro is under State Ethics Investigation.

The State of Florida Commission on Ethics announced they found probable cause to believe Commissioner Melissa Castro had a conflicting contractual relationship involving her private permit-expediting business and her duties as a City Commissioner.

According to the State of Florida, Castroā€™s private permitting business continued to pull permits in Coral Gables after her election, creating what the state described as a ā€œcontinuing or frequently recurring conflict between her private interests and the performance of her public duties.ā€

So while Commissioner Castro parades herself as being anti-corruption and making a show over fighting conflicts of interest, she is the only sitting commissioner under state investigation for conflicts involving her own private business and whether she has used her office for personal gain. Ironic.

However, Mayor Vince Lago has one more pressing question: After this announcement was made by the State of Florida over 6 months ago, why has this actual finding of probable cause involving Commissioner Castro not covered or reported by the Miami Herald?

A 101% pay raise without voter approval can never be allowed to happen again in Coral Gables.

Mayor Vince Lago explains why heā€™s voting yes on Question 6: Melissa Castro and Ariel Fernandez jammed a 101% pay raise into the budget without voter approval. Question 6 makes sure politicians can never do that again.
