此次協定為布羅瓦郡首次與他國縣市締結姊妹郡縣，象徵屏東縣及布羅瓦郡未來將深化交流合作，並在此架構上就商貿投資、教育文化、觀光旅遊及永續發展等領域緊密互動，共同深化雙方人民連結與往來。🌎🤝　　

We warmly congratulate Pingtung County Magistrate Chou Chun-mi and Broward County Mayor Mark Bogen on the signing of the Sister County Agreement on June 3. Deputy Director General Samuel Goffman of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) Kaohsiung Branch Office also attended the ceremony as a witness. This agreement marks an important milestone in Taiwan–U.S. subnational cooperation and opens a new chapter in friendly relations between the two counties.

This is Broward County’s first sister county partnership with a foreign counterpart, underscoring its growing international engagement. Going forward, Pingtung County and Broward County will further deepen exchanges and cooperation across a wide range of fields, including trade and investment, education and culture, tourism, and sustainable development, thereby strengthening people-to-people ties between Taiwan and the United States. 🌎🤝

在美國佛羅里達州奧蘭多舉行的 2026 NAFSA 國際教育年會暨展覽 期間，我國教育部、美國在台協會（AIT）及高等教育界領袖共同見證台美教育合作的重要里程碑。🇺🇸📚🇹🇼

本屆年會以「Global by Design」為主題，聚焦 AI、半導體、永續發展及國際人才流動等全球關鍵議題。期間亦同步展現台美高等教育合作的重要進展，在美國在台協會（AIT）、台灣教育部及高等教育界領袖的共同見證下，推動「台美半導體教育聯盟」，由高等教育國際合作基金會（FICHET）與美國州立學院與大學協會（AASCU）簽署合作意向書，並續簽「台美教育倡議」合作備忘錄，進一步深化雙邊高等教育夥伴關係。

本次合作不僅強化學術交流與人才培育，更透過結合台灣半導體產業優勢與美國高等教育資源，共同推動半導體與 AI 關鍵人才培育，並提升全球供應鏈韌性與安全。

透過制度化合作與長期夥伴關係，台美雙方將持續推動教育交流、產學合作與人才流動，共同為全球科技創新與經濟永續發展奠定堅實基礎。🌎✨

During the 2026 NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo held in Orlando, Florida, the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, and higher education leaders jointly marked a significant milestone in U.S.-Taiwan educational cooperation.🇹🇼🤝🇺🇸📚✨

Under the theme “Global by Design,” the conference focused on key global priorities, including AI, semiconductors, sustainability, and international talent mobility. On the sidelines of the event, AIT, Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, and higher education leaders also witnessed the launch of the U.S.-Taiwan Semiconductor Education Alliance, reflecting growing collaboration in higher education between both sides.

In the presence of AIT Managing Director Ingrid D. Larson, TECRO Representative Alexander Tah-Ray Yui, Taiwan’s Minister of Education Dr. Ying-yao Cheng, and senior U.S. Department of State officials, the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan (FICHET) and the Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) signed a Letter of Intent to establish the Alliance. Both sides also renewed the U.S.-Taiwan Education Initiative Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), further strengthening a long-standing partnership in higher education.

This collaboration not only enhances academic exchange and talent development, but also brings together Taiwan’s strengths in semiconductors with U.S. higher education resources to jointly cultivate critical talent in semiconductors and AI, while reinforcing the resilience and security of global supply chains.

Through institutionalized cooperation and a long-term partnership, Taiwan and the United States will continue to advance educational exchange, industry-academia collaboration, and talent mobility, laying a strong foundation for global innovation and sustainable economic development. 🌎✨

美國餐桌上其實不難看到香菜。

無論是墨西哥料理、越南河粉，還是許多拉丁美洲美食，香菜都是不可或缺的配角。但把香菜做成飲品，甚至發展成地方特色，卻相當少見。

而在彰化北斗，這株經常被撒在料理上的綠葉，卻成了真正的主角。

北斗不僅是台灣最大的香菜產區，冬季產量占全台八成以上，夏季更高達九成以上。近年來，當地不斷發揮創意，從香菜汁😁、香菜肉圓、香菜豬肉包，到香菜米乖乖，讓香菜不再只是餐桌上的點綴，而成為代表地方特色的重要名片。

香菜向來是最具話題性的食材之一。有人愛不釋口，有人避之唯恐不及。但無論站在哪一派，北斗用一杯香菜汁，成功讓大家重新認識這個熟悉又充滿爭議的味道。

或許，這正是台灣地方創生最有趣的地方——把最平凡的農產品，變成最令人難忘的地方特色。🌿🥤

Cilantro is everywhere in the U.S.

You’ll find it in tacos, pho, salsa, and countless Latin American and Asian dishes. It’s a familiar ingredient that most people hardly think twice about.

But cilantro juice? That’s a different story.😁

In Beidou, Changhua—Taiwan’s cilantro capital—locals have turned this humble herb into a drink that’s as bold as it is memorable. What’s usually a garnish on the side suddenly takes center stage.

And it’s no coincidence. Beidou is Taiwan’s largest cilantro-producing region, supplying more than 80% of the nation’s cilantro in winter and over 90% during the summer months. With cilantro woven so deeply into the local landscape, it’s only natural that the community would find creative ways to celebrate it.

Perhaps that’s what makes it so fascinating. Cilantro has always been one of those love-it-or-hate-it ingredients. Some people can’t get enough of it, while others avoid it completely. Yet a simple glass of cilantro juice has become a conversation starter, drawing curious visitors from near and far.

It’s a reminder that the most unexpected local specialties often come from seeing an everyday ingredient in a whole new light. 🌿✨

本處5月28日與南佛州智庫「邁阿密世界事務協會」(WACM)合辦「美國建國250週年、台灣總統直選30週年及處在十字路口的美洲政局」(American at 250, Taiwanese Democracy at 30,and the Americas at a Crossroads)研討會。

聯邦眾議員Carlos Gimenéz (R-FL)與周處長開幕致詞，委內瑞拉前任臨時總統Juan Guaidó、喬治華盛頓大學國際事務學院講師戴維忠博士及「傅爾布萊特協會」(Fulbright Association)主席Leland Lazarus擔任與談人。南佛州政、商、學界人士及僑胞共計約200人出席，現場互動氣氛熱絡。

本處也在會場準備台灣庶民美食，與出席研討會的嘉賓與聽眾共享，度過一個充滿台灣味的下午。

🇹🇼🤝🇺🇸 Exploring Democracy, Leadership, and the Future of the Americas

On May 28, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Miami co-hosted a symposium titled “America at 250, Taiwanese Democracy at 30, and the Americas at a Crossroads” with the World Affairs Council of Miami (WACM). 🌎🗳️

The event opened with remarks by Carlos Giménez (R-FL) and Director Chou. Distinguished panelists included Juan Guaidó, former Interim President of Venezuela; Dr. John W. Tai, Professorial Lecturer at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs; and Leland Lazarus, President of the Fulbright Association. 🎤📚

Approximately 200 guests from South Florida’s political, business, academic, and Taiwanese American communities attended the event. The lively discussion and active audience participation reflected the strong interest in democratic development and regional affairs across the Americas. 🌟👏

To share a taste of Taiwan’s vibrant culture, TECO Miami also prepared a selection of beloved Taiwanese street foods for guests and participants to enjoy, making for an afternoon filled with insightful dialogue and authentic Taiwanese flavors. 🧋🍍🥟❤️
