Prime Minister Hon. John Briceño addressed the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, underscoring the importance of multilateral cooperation in responding to climate change, rising debt, global insecurity, and the opportunities and risks presented by artificial intelligence.

He also called for a more equitable development framework beyond 2030, stronger support for vulnerable states, and continued international engagement on regional and global issues, including Haiti, Cuba, Taiwan’s participation in the UN system, and the preservation of Belize’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Today, we join the people of the United States in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

On this 25th anniversary, we also pause to remember Alva Cynthia Jefferies Sanchez, a Belizean whose life was tragically lost that day.

We remember Alva alongside all those whose lives were lost, and hold their families and loved ones close in our thoughts. May their memories live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved them.
