🚒 CONGRATULATIONS, FIREFIGHTER SEAN McCRAIN! 🚒

Please join us in congratulating Sean McCrain on successfully completing his probationary period with the Coram Fire Department!

Sean celebrated this milestone by climbing the “Stairway to Heaven” — making the climb up Ladder 1 to retrieve his new helmet shield, closing the chapter on his probationary period.

As a second-generation Coram firefighter, Sean continues a family tradition of service, dedication, and commitment to our community. We are proud to have him as part of our department and look forward to watching him grow in his firefighting career.

Congratulations, Sean! Welcome to the next chapter. Stay safe, watch your brother’s back, and always come home!

KICKING OFF FIRE SAFETY MONTH!

Today, members of the Coram Fire Department visited Coram Elementary School to kick off Fire Safety Month!

Our firefighters spent time with the students teaching them about fire safety and prevention, while giving them an up-close look at some of the equipment we use every day to help keep our community safe.

It’s never too early to teach our children what to do in the event of a fire and, most importantly, how to prevent one from happening in the first place!

A huge thank you to the students and staff at Coram Elementary for welcoming us today. We had a great time, and we hope you did too!

We are saddened to announce that after the storm we made every effort to reschedule, but unfortunately due to logistical hurdles that can’t be overcome, this year’s Truck Company Oktoberfest has been cancelled.

We are hoping to be back bigger than ever in September of 2027!

Out of an abundance of caution, we have made the decision to postpone Oktoberfest.

We will commence with the Biergarten on October 10th at 6pm!

The dedicated members from Coram Fire Department Engine Company 3 made a donation to the St. Francis Cabrini Knights Of Columbus in support of there charity event to raise money for the Tunnels To Towers Foundation.

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation honors the sacrifice of our nation’s first responders and military heroes by supporting their families and those who have been catastrophically injured in the line of duty. Their mission is simple: Never Forget, Never Leave a Hero Behind.

It is with deep regret and profound sadness that the Coram Fire Department announces the passing of 46-year member and Ex-Chief James Wood.

Chief Wood proudly served the Coram community in The Truck Company where he rose to the rank of Captain, before being elected Chief, eventually serving 2 stints as Chief of the Coram Fire Department, finishing his second term in 2005. He continued to be active in the fire service and a mainstay around the Firehouse right up until his passing.

Chief Wood’s legacy will forever be defined by the qualities that made him such a respected and beloved leader: fairness, humility, compassion, and a true commitment to servant leadership.

He treated everyone with dignity and respect, always willing to listen, lend a hand, and put the needs of others before his own. His leadership was never about titles or recognition—it was about serving his members, his department, and his community with integrity and dedication.
