One of the parts of my “job” that I love so much is being a cheerleader for our Veterans.
I met Dustin Shoopman not to long after Tom and I came to KY. He came and supported our non profit and I danced one of my favorite dances with Tom to him singing.
Shortly after that his father passed away and Dustin would have a very difficult time. I tried and tried to get him to sing again, but it wasn’t until last month when he told me he would be in the competition at Old Town Grill.
Tonight, Dustin won third place. My heart is just overjoyed that he put himself out there at all again. It takes bravery and strength. And each week, he put himself out there a little more.
Congratulations Dustin! We love you and are always gonna be your biggest fans!

The arts can heal. I am super proud of Dustin for getting on this stage and putting himself out there! I met him when we first started our non profit here in KY and he has supported us and it is a pleasure to support him!!!

MISTYPE: This is last year’s budget(2023)

It seems non profits are the target for, “the founders spend all their money on their house” way too often. I realize large non profits can pay their employees, but we are only volunteer based, to include our founders. So, I thought I would grab the tax returns and throw some numbers out there. Not only do we put most of our time into this project, but the founders have invested a significant amount of money into this project. Just like any other business, getting started takes a lot of capital. We did a lot last year in getting a building. This was important because we have plans for our art classes and doing them at the house was problematic. Sometimes you have to take a step back, Invest some money to build a better foundation so growth can occur. With The Train Station, donations this year are already over 15k. Each ticket and sandwich purchased stays with the non profit. At some point, we will need to pay employees. Thats just the nature of an event center with larger shows. But likely those individuals will be military or military families.
So if you see a post that says we spent money donated on anything other than the non profit specifically, know that is not accurate.

We regret to inform that we will not be able to participate in the CVMA moonshine ride this morning due to unforeseen medical issues and the need to prioritize the well-being of our Veterans. However, we will still have a presence at the Colonel’s Festival downtown and our team members will be present at The Train Station tonight.

Dear fellow Veterans and friends, at this time the nonprofit I founded, Resilient Knights, is working hard to help several Vets in need. Due to the influx of veterans needing trips for advocacy assistance and an increase of housing for many displaced veterans we ask for your help. If you could find it in your heart to make a donation to this cause it would be greatly appreciated. Any amount would go a long way in assisting the mission going forward and help greatly with operational costs. Please give at the link posted if you are able. Thank you and God bless. Together, we can make a difference! We have not done a fundraiser like this before before, but today, we reach out to our friends and family for help. We have five individuals living with us and all the expenses that come with it. But we won't let that stop us! We have amazing testimonies from our Veterans and their family members and we need your help to continue making a difference. Even a $5 or $10 donation would help!
