Happy National Dog Day!

Today, we’re giving a massive shoutout to the goodest boy on the force: our very own Rex!

While Rex is away putting in the hard work and getting his training dialed in, we’re definitely feeling his absence around here. We miss his goofy personality, his endless enthusiasm, and, of course, his impressive ability to convince everyone that he hasnt ate in 12 .....whole days 😑.

He may be busy becoming the best working dog he can be, but we’re looking forward to having our four-legged buddy back with us soon. Keep up the good work, Rex — we’ll save your seat (and probably a few treats) for you!

Caleb Gray
Age - 25
Height - 6ft
Weight - 210 lbs
Clothing - Blue T-Shirt and Jeans

The Cordele Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Caleb Gray, who was last seen today at approximately 8:00 PM at the Valero located on E. 8th Avenue.

Mr. Gray is autistic and exited the vehicle he was traveling in before running from the area. He may exhibit unpredictable or aggressive behavior if approached.

If you see Mr. Gray, do not attempt to approach or detain him. Please contact 911 immediately and provide his location and direction of travel.

Please share this information to help us safely locate Mr. Gray.

The Cordele Police Department is investigating the death of an infant that occurred late yesterday evening.

Because the case is still active, and to ensure both the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of the family, we are not releasing further details.

Our detectives along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigations are handling the case.

We ask our community to keep all those impacted in their thoughts and prayers as everyone navigates this heartbreaking situation.

Today, Cordele Police officers responded to a burglary call in the 500 block of E. 15th Ave. Thanks to an accurate description provided by the victim, officers quickly spotted the suspect a few blocks away.

​The adult male suspect fled from officers on foot but was located a short time later hiding under a nearby house. He was taken into custody without incident.

​In addition to his existing active warrants, the suspect has been charged with:

Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary
Obstruction
Criminal Trespass

Today, we proudly honor Alicia “Lisa” Bond for an incredible 28 years of dedicated service to the Cordele Police Department.

For nearly three decades, Lisa has been a cornerstone of our daily operations — the steady, reliable force ensuring everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. Her commitment, professionalism, and exceptional work ethic have shaped the heart of this department. To many of us, Lisa has been far more than a co‑worker; she has been a friend, a sister, and even a mother‑figure whose support has meant more than words can express.

Beyond her day‑to‑day responsibilities, Lisa has poured her passion into the community. She has been one of the key organizers of countless events — not just for our department, but for the community we proudly serve. Her kindness, creativity, and ability to bring people together have left a lasting impact on Cordele.

As Lisa steps into retirement, we want her to know this:
The Cordele Police Department will always miss her, always appreciate her, and will forever be grateful for the legacy she leaves behind.
