Honor a Veteran with a Commemorative Banner

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW Post 4742), in partnership with the American Legion Post 542 of Cordele, believes it is important to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of the men and women who have served — or are currently serving — our country. To honor these individuals, we are offering the community an opportunity to purchase a 2 x 4 commemorative banner that will be proudly displayed along 16th Avenue.

Each banner will feature your service member’s name, branch of service, years of service (if known) and conflict (if applicable). The banners are double‑sided and display the veteran’s name on both sides.
The cost of each banner is $140. Once purchased, the banner becomes the property of VFW Post 4742 and will be displayed annually for Memorial Day and Veterans Day, ensuring your veteran is honored year after year. Deadline for ordering is Thursday, October 22nd at 5:00 P.M.

If you are interested in purchasing a banner, or for more information, contact VFW Post Commander Louis New — (229) 805‑3394

Today, Cordele Police Officers responded to a robbery at Cloud V***r after an individual entered the store, took multiple items of merchandise, and fled on foot before getting into a vehicle parked nearby.

Thanks to a detailed suspect description promptly provided by Crisp County 911 dispatchers, officers were able to locate the suspect's vehicle at a local residence. Officers made contact with the suspect at the home and took him into custody without incident. Cordele Police Department detectives also responded to assist with the investigation and collect evidence.

The adult male suspect has been charged with two counts of Robbery by Sudden Snatching after investigators identified him as the same individual responsible for a previous robbery at the business.

During the investigation, officers also discovered the suspect had active warrants from other law enforcement agencies.

Great job to our officers and the Crisp County 911 dispatchers for their outstanding teamwork, communication, and swift response. Their coordinated efforts led to the apprehension of the suspect and helped ensure the safety of our community.

The Cordele Police Department would like to extend our sincere thanks to AutoZone of Cordele and Mr. Loyd Tanto for assisting our officers over the weekend.

When two of our patrol vehicles experienced tire issues, Loyd took time out of a busy day to help our officers utilize repair supplies that they already had on hand and get the vehicles back in service as quickly as possible. His willingness to lend a hand helped minimize and get them back in service.

We greatly appreciate local businesses and community members who support public safety through acts of kindness and teamwork.
Thank you sir, and thank you, AutoZone, for your continued support of the Cordele Police Department and the citizens of Cordele.
