Thank you to Julie Willis, CoServ for sponsoring last week's luncheon. CoServ invests in programs that strengthen the community, providing teacher grants, student scholarships, community blood drives, and helping families in need. CoServ is a valued member of Lake Cities Chamber.

Mayor Lynn Clark led our invocation and Tina Henderson recognized elected officials and chamber board members. Bellann Hyten, Maverick Financial, gave us a motivational moment about our emotional backpack. She said we get so bogged down with work and home life, to stop and consider- What needs my attention first? What can I put down?

Our speaker was Hiba Tanvir, an Emotional Intelligence speaker, author, and creator of the ZEST Framework™—helping leaders perform at their ZEST™ by cultivating the uniquely human qualities AI can never replace. She spoke about the Play & Pause Methodology explaining it is good to have "play" time to explore without threat but to also remember to "pause". When reacting to a work situation, disgruntled employee, etc, take 90 seconds to let your brain rewire and regulate. Hiba goes on to say it is good to have self awareness to build compassion and relationships. The 90 second pause also lowers your body's cortisol.
