State Medical Examiner Death Investigation Class 1995, Basic Death Investigation with over 500 Hours of CEU, which includes medical training, death invesgations, crime scene, Polypharmacy investigation, ; Advanced SIDS death investigation; MS. Law Enforcement Officer Training Academy; Southeastern Law enforcement training seminars; Miss. Coroner and Medical Examiners Seminars. As serving in the coroners office I worked thousands of deaths in the past 19 years with the coroner office including natural, accidental, su***de and homicides.
1) Serving as coroner has always been a lifelong passion of mine. In the 8th grade I did a report on serving as coroner. Being raised around death my whole life. Jay Jones knows what it takes to serve the citizens of Alcorn County, I have shown, not just the past 19 years but my whole life has been around death and helping the families . Alcorn County Coroner office has always been held to a high standard.
2) Jay Jones has proven that he has the KNOWLEDGE-INTEGRITY-PASSION. I would like to let the citizens know that I have fulfilled those qualifications. Serving the Alcorn County Coroner office for the past 19 years, for the past 3 years as Coroner and deputy for 16 of those years. Jay Jones has the KNOWLEDGE I have worked over THOUSAND’s of death investigations including natural, accidental, su***de and homicides. INTEGRITY for being honest and having strong moral principles. My record speaks for itself. PASSION is something that not everyone has. Serving as Alcorn County Coroner has been a life calling for me, dealing with death on a daily basis. Serving as your full-time Coroner, which means being on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
3) As for the coroner office, that’s somewhat difficult to answer in some ways. This office deals with death on a daily bases. One thing that comes to mind is the deaths that involve Poly-Pharmacy overdose death. This is a problem that not only affects Alcorn County but the every area throughout this region.
4) The Citizens of Alcorn County, we live in a great community, we help each other when needed. Law enforcement, both local and state agencies.

a. I have upheld the coroner’s office in the most respectful way. I have had an open door policy for the county coroner office. It is important for
citizens to have a place to come and feel comfortable dealing with the
loss of their loved one. Have worked with, area law enforcement, fire depts. and EMA in training for
crime scenes and disaster preparedness. This one is still a work in progress to have a county morgue. e Being a steward of your tax dollars, the past three years I have stayed below our budget and have always been very conservative of spending your tax dollars. Always remembering that, I represent the Citizens of Alcorn Co. throughout the State of Mississippi. As being a part of the Executive Board for the Mississippi-Coroner-Medical Examiner Association to work with the State Medical and MS Legislature to see about getting a Crime lab, somewhere on the north end to the state. This will save time and expense for doing autopsies. Being re-elected Coroner, I promise to uphold the Coroner office in the most respected way. For the deceased, their families and the citizens of Alcorn County. Being a steward of your tax dollars, the past three years I have stayed below our budget and have always been very conservative of spending your tax dollars.
