🚸 BACK TO SCHOOL MEANS BUSES ARE BACK ON THE ROAD 🚌

As the new school year kicks off in Alcorn County, we want to remind all drivers to stay alert and be cautious around school buses. Children’s safety depends on your attention behind the wheel.

👉 It’s illegal in Mississippi to pass a stopped school bus when the stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing.
🚨 Violators can face serious penalties, including:
• Fines up to $750 for a first offense
• Possible jail time for repeat or aggravated violations
• Increased insurance rates and a lasting mark on your driving record

When a bus stops to pick up or drop off children, traffic in both directions must stop — unless there’s a physical median dividing the lanes.

School starts Wednesday, the 30th!

Let’s protect our kids! Slow down. Stay alert. And always stop for the bus.
