🚨 FLASH FLOOD SAFETY ALERT – Alcorn County

Heavy rainfall can quickly turn dangerous. Flash floods can happen with little to no warning—especially in low-lying areas, near creeks, and along roadways.

🌧️ Know the Risks:
• Flooding can occur in minutes during intense rain
• Roads can become impassable quickly
• Just a few inches of moving water can knock you down
• Vehicles can be swept away in as little as 12 inches of water

🚗 Turn Around, Don’t Drown:
Never drive through flooded roadways. You cannot always see how deep the water is or if the road has been washed out beneath it.

🏠 Stay Prepared:
• Monitor weather alerts and warnings
• Have multiple ways to receive emergency notifications
• Move to higher ground if flooding begins
• Keep emergency supplies ready

📞 In Case of Emergency:
Call 911 if you are in immediate danger. Do not wait.

👨‍🚒 From Alcorn County Emergency Management
Your safety is our priority. Stay weather-aware, have a plan, and look out for one another.
