Tornado Watch in Effect – Grant County, Kentucky

A Tornado Watch has been issued for parts of Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio as a strong storm system moves across the Midwest today. This means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.

What a Tornado Watch Means

Tornado Watch = Tornadoes are possible.
• Severe thunderstorms may develop that could produce tornadoes.
• Large hail and damaging winds are also possible.
• Stay alert and monitor weather updates.

What You Should Do Now

✔️ Review your severe weather safety plan.
✔️ Identify a safe shelter location (basement or interior room on the lowest floor).
✔️ Make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings (weather radio, phone alerts, sirens, local media).
✔️ Be ready to take shelter quickly if a Tornado Warning is issued.

Remember:
• Watch = Be prepared
• Warning = Take shelter immediately

🚨 Grant County – We Need Your Help 🚨

Grant County Emergency Management is seeking local churches, businesses, and community facilities willing to open their doors during severe weather emergencies.

When winter storms, tornadoes, or major weather events impact our county, some residents may need a safe place to go until conditions improve. Having trusted locations already identified helps us respond faster and better protect our community.

We are currently seeking facilities that may be willing to serve as temporary emergency shelter locations during:

❄️ Snow Storms
🌪️ Tornadoes
⚠️ Severe Weather Emergencies

This does not mean your building would always be used, but having partnerships in place allows us to quickly assist residents if the need arises.

If your church, business, or organization may be willing to help, please reach out.

Together we can help keep Grant County safe, prepared, and resilient.
