Are you planning a project along the River - or do you need to repair some flooding damage? If you live within 1,000 ft of the S**o, Ossipee, or Little Ossipee Rivers, you may need a permit from the SRCC before starting post-flooding repairs, or any new projects on your property. Permits are needed for adding loam, fill, gravel, riprap, and boulders, or for constructing, relocating, or rebuilding any structures including sheds, decks, etc. It can take over a month to secure a permit, so don't delay if you plan to do your work this spring.

Permits from SRCC are required by law, and are different from local building permits, so if you live in the S**o River Corridor, please contact us before you move ahead with your project, or if you've had to make emergency repairs after recent flooding. A quick call can save a lot of trouble, and our office staff are happy to help! Not sure if you're in the Corridor? Take a look at our map or call the office (207-625-8123) to check.

Happy New Year from the S**o River Corridor Commission!

A message from the Commission's new Executive Director, Cheri Dunning:

I was honored to take on this role in August, 2023, following in the footsteps of the excellent previous director, Dalyn Houser. Our volunteer Commissioners do incredible work to help protect our rivers and the communities around them. I am grateful to now help the Commission as a staff member, continuing the 50-year legacy of protection and monitoring along the S**o, Ossipee, and Little Ossipee.

Over 130 miles of river are under the protection of the S**o River Corridor Act. Those wanting to learn more can visit our website www.srcc-maine.org. We are also seeking new Commissioners in many of the towns bordering these rivers. If you live in the area and want to see how you can help, please get in touch! The office can be reached at 207-625-8123.

Thank you to everyone who continues to care about and help preserve the water quality and natural resources along the S**o River and its tributaries. Have a happy and healthy New Year!
