This is just the beginning of a meaningful career in service. We look forward to watching you continue to grow, lead, and make a difference in your community. 💙🚔

🚨 Shark Sighting in Newport Beach 🦈
Today at approximately 1:25 PM, OC Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol Dispatch received a report from our partners of an estimated 8-foot great white shark circling a surfer near 35th Street by the rock jetties in Newport Beach.
OC Sheriff’s Harbor Patrol Deputies responded immediately and conducted patrol operations just outside the surf line for approximately 90 minutes, issuing safety announcements over the PA to those in the water. ⚠️No shark was located during the search. At approximately 3:00 PM, patrol operations were transferred back to Newport Beach Lifeguards.
While shark sightings are rare, we urge the public to remain vigilant when entering the ocean. Always be aware of your surroundings and follow posted safety guidance.
‼️👮🏻‍♂️Your safety is our priority. 🌊

Right now in Newport Harbor ⚓️👀
Behind the beauty of our favorite waterfront views is some serious work going on… dredging is here 🚧🌊
Be cautious navigating through the harbor.
Dredging helps keep the harbor safe, navigable, and thriving by removing built-up sediment so boats can pass through smoothly.
It might not be the prettiest sight right now, but it’s all part of protecting what makes Newport Harbor iconic 🎡🌴🛥️💙✨
Next time you’re out on the water or walking the docks, you’ll know—this is maintenance with a purpose💪.
