The Corona Fire Department provides fire protection and emergency medical services for the City of Corona, California.

Over 100 years of service, established in 1898 the Corona Fire Department provides cooperative and innovative services in fire protection, emergency medical services, fire prevention, planning and education. The City of Corona is located approximately 45 miles southeast of Los Angeles in western Riverside County. The City limits encompass 39.2 square miles and the population is approximately 153,484. The department has 7 fire stations and in 2013 responded to 10,808 incidents, of those 7,963 were EMS rescues.

Join us in congratulating newly promoted Fire Apparatus Engineer Erika Otarola!

Yesterday at Fire HQ, Fire Chief Brian Young presented Engineer Otarola with her new badge and helmet shield. With her crew and wife, Charde, by her side, Erika officially stepped into the next chapter of her Corona Fire career!

A 6-year veteran of the Corona Fire Department, Erika stays heavily involved across the department-serving on the Honor Guard, chairing the Recognition Committee, working as a Public Information Officer, and serving on the CFA Board.

Congratulations, Erika, and best of luck in this next chapter!

The City of Corona is joining millions of people across California and around the world for the 2026 Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill on Thursday, October 15 at 10:15 am.

Earthquakes can happen without warning, and knowing what to do when the shaking starts can make a difference.

Preparedness starts with practice. Take a minute to think about what you would do if an earthquake happened right now, and join us in practicing Drop, Cover, and Hold On!

This Fire Prevention Week we focus on Safe Charging to prevent fires!🔋

Does your device get hot while charging?

If your phone, tablet, or other rechargeable items heat up while charging, it is an indication that the battery may fail. Battery failure may lead to fire, placing you and your family at risk.

Excessive heat and battery swelling means it is time to replace the battery.

Also remember to use the approved charger that is designed for the item you are charging to prevent fires.

Do you charge things like e-bikes and tools at your home?

For tools and rides, charge outside.

Charge large items like e-bikes, scooters, and power tools outside when possible. Do not block exits when charging.

Also remember to use the approved charger that is designed for the item you are charging to prevent fires.

Do you have a cheaper charger? Don’t chance it!

The NFPA recommends you use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.

Damaged and unauthorized device chargers can heat up, causing a fire in your home.

Fire Prevention Week Begins Today!🧑‍🚒

Join the Corona Fire Department, as we promote this years’s theme, “Charge Into Fire Safety. Safe Charging Is a Superpower”.

This Fire Prevention Week we focus on the everyday charging habits that can help reduce the risk of lithium-ion battery fires and keep homes and communities safer.

Plug in. Power up. Stay safe.

We will be providing charging safety tips all week, so stay tuned!
