We enjoyed an inspiring afternoon of music at the Library as Dr. Eric Starr and pianist Hyemi Kwon inaugurated our Autumn Concert Series with a distinguished performance in the Winn Room. We appreciate the opportunity to present live music and the arts to our community.

Join us next Friday, September 11, as we welcome Alex Guillen, a Chula Vista raised guitarist whose music draws from flamenco, jazz, Latin, and world traditions. We hope you’ll join us for another afternoon of exceptional live music!

We had a fantastic morning of music and movement! 🎶 Last week, our young musicians joined a special Nightingale Music session featuring singing, dancing, bubbles, and hands-on instruments. We were grateful to welcome our community to the screening of America at 250: Through the Eyes of Our Heroes on Tuesday, August 25. The documentary shared the stories and experiences of World War II veterans, giving everyone a chance to reflect on their service and the history they shaped. It was a privilege to have all eight veterans from the film with us, along with the filmmakers who told their stories. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this a special morning for our community.

Our annual Autumn Concert Series is back! Taking place every Friday from September 4 to October 23 at 1 PM, this series highlights solo musicians on their instrument of choice. New York Times bestselling author and San Diego native Tess Gerritsen comes to the Library this Monday, August 31 to celebrate The Shadow Friends, the newest installment in her acclaimed Martini Club series. Gerritsen, whose bestselling novels inspired the hit television series Rizzoli & Isles, will take readers behind the scenes of her writing, share the inspiration for her mysteries, and discuss the retired spies at the heart of her latest series.

The evening will include an audience Q&A followed by a book signing.
