Our Barbie Clothes Camp turned into a mini fashion studio 👗🪡 as campers designed, stitched, and accessorized their own Barbie-inspired creations! 💕 From first-time sewists to budding designers, everyone learned new skills ✂️🧵, made amazing projects 🌟, and had a blast expressing their creativity. 🎀👠

What a sweet start to summer! ☀️🍓👩‍🍳🎉
Our junior bakers had an unforgettable day at our Flour Power Baking Workshop! 🧁🍪 From mixing up homemade crepes 🥞 and getting creative with LEGO builds 🧱✨ to discovering the fun of reflections in the window 🪟🤩, every moment was filled with curiosity 🔍, laughter 😂, and hands-on learning 🙌.

Of course, no baking camp is complete without a little whipped cream mustache on the face! 😄🤍🤣

🏁🚗 Camp Coronado campers participated in an exciting meet-and-greet with NASCAR Driver 🏎️ Carson Hocevar on June 19, 2026! 🎉 The event took place at the Club Room in 📍 Glorietta Bay Park.

👋 John Duncan, Mayor of Coronado, attended the event and introduced Carson to the young campers, helping kick off an exciting morning. 🎤✨

🤝 📡 Spectrum and 🏁 Spire Motorsports sponsored the event. Carson’s 🚘 Chevy Camaro #77 was on display, featuring a bold new look inspired by the Navy’s ✈️ Osprey aircraft. 🇺🇸⚓

❓🎙️ After an engaging Q&A session, campers received ✍️ autographed hero cards and 🎁 sponsor goodies. Smiles were everywhere! 😄🏁

🔬🧪 This summer, Coronado Recreation is hosting four exciting Science Camps at the Community Center! 🌟 Camps run Monday through Friday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and are packed with hands-on experiments, creative projects, and scientific discoveries. 🚀

🧫🔍 At the Kids Science Experiments Camp (June 22–26), children ages 6–11 will have fun while exploring science. Campers will mix, build, and experiment to make potions 🧙‍♂️, giant bubbles 🫧, and more while discovering how things work.

🟢✨ During the Slime and Science Experiment Lab (July 6–10), kids ages 6–11 can create glow-in-the-dark slime 🌙, magnetic slime 🧲, and silly putty-like slime. They’ll also make optical illusions 👀, create exciting reactions 💥, build Lava Lamps 🔴, explore diaper jelly, play games 🎲, and work on fun projects.

🍦🍭 If your child loves food, the Sweet Edible Science Camp (July 20–24) is perfect for ages 6–11. Campers will learn about chemistry ⚗️, physics ⚙️, acids and bases 🧪, freezing points ❄️, and more. They’ll make ice cream in a bag 🍨, build a volcano cake that erupts 🌋🎂, create candy geodes 🍬, make edible slime, and enjoy many other tasty experiments.

🌈🟣 The Super Slime Lab (July 27–31) offers kids ages 6–11 a safe, hands-on week of slime-making fun. Campers will create avalanche slime 🏔️, sandy beach slime 🏖️, color-changing slime 🌈, unicorn foam 🦄, and much more!

🎭🌟 This summer, Coronado Recreation and Golf Services is hosting 10 Musical Theater Camps at the Community Center! 🎶✨ Boys and girls ages 3 to 11 can step into the spotlight and show off their performance skills. Whether your child is new to theater or already loves being on stage, everyone will work together to put on a mini-show based on a popular children’s movie or TV series. 🎬🎤

Campers will receive a role, learn their lines, and perform a dance in the grand finale. 💃🕺 Junior actors will also build creativity and confidence through improvisation, theater games, and fun activities. 🎭🎲 It’s a fantastic way to make new friends, develop communication skills, and shine on stage! ⭐🤝

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦☀️ Looking for a meaningful way to keep your teen engaged this summer while helping them build valuable life and job skills? The City of Coronado’s Leader-In-Training (LIT) program offers teens ages 15–18 the opportunity to gain real-world experience in a fun, supportive environment. 🌟💼

🤝 As an LIT, participants work alongside recreation staff and instructors, assisting with a variety of summer camps while developing leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. 🗣️👥 They’ll gain hands-on experience, build confidence, and learn responsibility—qualities that can benefit future jobs, college applications, and personal growth. 📈🎓 Each week, teens are assigned to a different camp, which may include ⚽ sports, 🎭 musical theater, 👩‍🍳 cooking, 🧸 preschool programs, and more.

🌱 For younger teens ages 12–14, the Jr. Recreation Leader Program offers a similar experience, providing an introduction to workplace skills and leadership opportunities under the guidance of Recreation Department staff. 🏅📚
