Thank you to the 70 (and counting) people who have powered this campaign canvassing, phone banking, and volunteering your time and talents to ensure we send a clear message: Corpus Christians are tired of the status quo and ready for change. For too long we have accepted underfunded public services, shoddy infrastructure, and the city’s uninterrupted allegiance to polluting industries at the expense of our health and safety. It is the homestretch so we are counting on all of you to share this and the candidates' goals for a cleaner and safer Corpus to those in our community. Regardless the outcome, we have so much work ahead of us and look forward to fighting alongside all of you for a Corpus that better represents our interests.

🗳️ ELECTION DAY IS TOMORROW 🗳️

Once again this year, TCE has partnered with other community groups in Corpus Christi to endorse a CLEAN SLATE of City Council candidates who share our commitment to a clean, safe, healthy Texas.

Our Corpus coalition believes it’s time for city leaders to put the needs of local families and businesses first, and STOP forcing residents to subsidize Big Industry with huge tax breaks and a disastrous $757 million bay water desalination plan.

In the last election, two of our endorsed candidates won against opponents backed by Big Industry. Since then, Jim Klein and Sylvia Campos have been leading the charge at City Hall to end corporate tax breaks, lower residential water bills, and stop desalination in the Corpus Christi Bay.

This year our coalition is working to re-elect Jim Klein and Syliva Campos and win five additional seats! ✅ Our additional 2024 endorsed candidates are Isabel Araiza for Mayor, Rachel Caballero and Jennifer Gracia for Council At-Large, Eli McKay for Council District 1, and Eric Magnusson IV for Council District 4.
Corpus Christi is fed up with a City Council majority that’s given away nearly $100 million in tax breaks to Big Industry and now wants residents to pay $757 million for risky bay water desalination to provide water to the subsidized companies!

The potentially devastating environmental impact of desalination on the Corpus Christi Bay seems hardly an afterthought in the City Council’s rush to make families and small businesses pay Big Industry’s bills. We say: ENOUGH.

🤠 Our work at TCE is focused on supporting Texans on the front lines of big polluters’ assault on our communities and the climate we all share. Our coalition won in 2022 in part because of help from TCE volunteers from across the state. RIGHT NOW is when our endorsed candidates need our support to get the word out.

The City Council majority has failed our families and businesses OVER AND OVER by voting to increase our water bills and taxes. Now they want US to pay even BIGGER water bills to fund RISKY, EXPENSIVE desalination in the Bay.

✅ FACT: The City Council majority wants to spend over $750 MILLION of OUR money to build desalination plants for water to subsidize Big Industry.

✅ FACT: The City Council majority tried to spend $1.5 million of OUR MONEY on a PR campaign to persuade US to support RAISING OUR OWN BILLS to pay for desalination in the Bay!

✅ FACT: Desalination could destroy the Bay’s ecosystem and ruin local fishing and boating.

City Hall must get its 💩 together on THE BASICS like public safety and emergency response, 🚑ROAD 🚗 REPAIR, and upgrading our water system to ENSURE access to clean, reliable drinking water. On the ABCs, City Hall gets a BIG, FAT F. 👎

✅ FACT: Corpus Christi residents have endured years of boil water notices, never-ending road and pipe “repair” projects, and underfunded parks, libraries and public safety services.

🕴️ Big Industry should have to FOLLOW THE SAME RULES as our families 👪 and small businesses and PAY THE SAME FEES AND FINES WE DO for using water. 💧

✅ FACT: The City Council majority has fined residents and small businesses THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS for using too much water but EXEMPTS Big Industry from following the same rules.

With inflation increasing our 💵 cost 💵 of living, the City Council must MAKE CORPUS CHRISTI MORE AFFORDABLE by lowering our 💧water bills; ending taxpayer-funded subsidies for Big Industry; and bringing safer, cleaner, better new jobs to our city. 🏙️

✅ FACT: The City Council majority gave away nearly $100 MILLION in tax breaks to Big Industry while INCREASING BILLS and taxes for residents and local businesses.
