Junior Politicians (JP) would like to serve as a place for students to become informed citizens. We will discuss political issues that affect our community, our state, our nation, and the world. It is not associated with any particular political ideology and is intended to simply promote an interest in politics. Not a specific type of politics. Its an umbrella organization, much like ACL, incorpor
ated by model legislature programs like MUN, Mock Legislature, Mock Trial, Texas Forensic Association (TFA), Model Congress, and other youth model government organizations that span all three branches of government. Junior Politicians (JP) wishes to remain active on campus organizing get out the vote campaigns, community lectures and simulations. JP has two different main branches within itself. First and foremost the academic, competitive speech and debate side. In which students learn how to role play as representatives in governmental bodies (like the UN, House of Representatives, US senate; The Arab League etc..). Second, there is the non-competitive community volunteering side. In which students take part in community out reach programs and volunteer for political and governmental organizations. However, both sides learn an understanding of the functionality of our local, state and national government. Learning about current events and social issues. JP has its members take part in socratic seminars on a regular basis. Club members are promoted to take part in both sides, buy ultimately it is the students choice. Students can choose to do one or both of them.
