Our Department and the Advocates in our Victim Assistance Program are with heavy hears today. Chief Floyd Simpson was so supportive of all that we do daily for the victims of our city. He stood strong on working hard to get jusctice for all these families. What we appreciated most is that although we are civilian employees the standards and expectations for us are just as high as those of our officers. He always had a kind word and we all had our own connection with him. He always greeted us with a smile and always took time to stop and ask what was going with us and was always interested in what we were doing. He was never too busy for us. He was a great leader and although he was only with us for 3 years he had already made great changes and greater changes were on its way. It's hard to replace a great leader and our Chief will be hard to replace. He will be greatly missed. Our prayers for peace go out to his family and the family in blue.
Rest In Peace Chief Simpson.

If you have about an hour to spare this evening, 7:00pm to 8:00pm at the Cole Park Amphitheater there will be a vigil held by The Her Story Foundation. This beautiful group of people put this group together in memory of a friend that was killed by her ex husband last year. Tonight their small vigil will be to remember her and other Domestic Violence Victims and also to hear local judges and advocates speak about Mary's Law and what's being done to properly use it. Come out for a bit if weather permits and let your voice be heard and support a very worthy cause.
