Corpus Christi Montessori School

Corpus Christi Montessori School A public charter Montessori school serving grades 1st through 8th. We follow the Montessori Method. Help students achieve scholastic and personal success.

The Beginning
Corpus Christi Montessori School was founded by a group of four parents in need of another educational option for their young children. No public Montessori option existed for the children moving forward from the classrooms of Montessori School of Corpus Christi. These parents had watched their children grow and thrive in environments prepared for their tiny minds and bodies. They lo

ved the philosophy that drives the heart of Montessori, education of the whole child. The child’s mind in those years from first to third grade need concrete concepts. Students need to feel, see, hear, and physically manipulate their facts. Their lessons needed to be presented in an environment prepared for them with a community that believed in not only helping children learn the facts, but learn how to express their feelings, work with others, gain independence, and problem solve for themselves. They needed a safe environment in which to succeed and fail, for failure is the seed of growth. These parents wanted an environment where the focus was on the wonder of learning. Where the structure was freer, and the mindset was centered around the child. In most traditional educational environments, the teacher is the sun and the child must orbit them. In a Montessori environment, each student is the sun and the teachers orbit them. “The greatest sign of success for a teacher... is to be able to say, ’The children are now working as if I did not exist.” – Maria Montessori. With these ideals in mind, through much research and effort, the four parents created the Montessori Association of South Texas and in August of 2005, created Corpus Christi Montessori School. The Growth
Corpus Christi Montessori School, or CC-Montessori, has been shaping young minds for some time. Our community has seen it’s successes and struggles as it grows but the mission has remained the same. At our school, children learn by discovery. They are joyful and confident. Building communities and nurturing the environment; Our children become ambassadors to the world. We have the unique ability to watch the children grow through each level, from lower elementary (1st-3rd), Upper Elementary (4th-6th) and Middle School (7th & 8th). Those self-driven children that spend the majority of their scholastic career within our community emerge with the personal and academic knowledge and tools that will lend them to success in all their future endeavors. Over the years, our school has gained experience and stability. We are more aware of the resources available to us and more concrete in our understanding of how to meet whole group and individual student needs. Our teachers are state certified and Montessori trained. While we do participate in state standard testing, we work hard to make sure that is never the focus of our education program. We encourage our staff to explore their teaching craft, seek to improve their skills, and strive to continue personal and professional growth. The Future
We hope the future holds many great things for our community. We always want to remain a small campus but we are currently looking at ways to improve our campus grounds and expand our classroom facilities in order to enable student body growth. We are continually working on melding the Montessori philosophy and State standards together in a way that our students are best able to show their growth and success.

Getting backinto a routine can be tough. Frequent check-ins are a strong support for students and help keep communication open and free. Dedicated time to check-in can be anytime. Before or after school, dinner, before bed. Asking meaningful questions with full attention is a great relationship tool.

🧠 Mental Health Monday | Checking in After Back-to-School.

The first few weeks of school have likely brought new routines, new friendships, and new challenges. As the excitement of the new school year settles, it's a great time to check in with your child and see how they're adjusting.

Consider asking questions like:
💙 What has been your favorite part of school so far?
💙 Is there anything that's been difficult?
💙 Do you feel supported by your teachers and classmates?
💙 How can I help you this week?

Creating a safe space for open conversations helps children feel heard, valued, and supported. Sometimes, simply listening can make all the difference.

If your child continues to struggle with anxiety, stress, or emotional challenges, remember that support is available. Nueces Center for MHID is committed to helping children, families, and individuals build resilience and thrive.
