After a couple days of monitoring, it showed great signs of mobility and eating behaviors! After a quick examination, it was then eligible for release! โœ…

Some of our patients come in and out of our facility in a couple days, which encourages us to keep doing what we do! We appreciate all the love and support from our supporters daily! ๐Ÿคฉ

Freedom Friday! ๐Ÿ™Œ

We recently released 2 kemps that came to our facility due to a predator attack and for an injured left flipper! ๐Ÿข

It is Kemps Ridley nesting season at the moment. Kemps come up to lay 2-3 batches of eggs between 50-150 eggs along the Texas coast from Galveston to South Padre area! ๐Ÿ“

These 2 were a brought in to us and were released a couple weeks after! They were eligible for release and were very happy they get to go back into the wild๐ŸŒŠ

The Texas Sealife Center is highlighting Artemis, our Crested Caracara. Artemis was rescued back in 2014 from the Padre Island golf course. She had a wing injury that had already healed, so she could not be released back into the wild. She has been a permanent resident ever since and due to her age and intelligence she has adjusted to captivity very well! She can solve puzzles and recognize colors on enrichment days! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Caracaras are a part of the falcon family. They have powerful legs and can jump up to 10 feet in the air. The bare skin on their faces can change colors depending on their mood. They are known as the Mexican Eagle, but are not the bird on the Mexican Flag like many think, that would be the Golden Eagle.. ๐Ÿฆ…

Come check out Artemis at our center today! โœจ

Today is world turtle day! ๐Ÿข

It serves to remind everyone of the importance of sea turtles, tortoises and terrapins all over the world. Each facing a different threat to their survival. Here are at the sea life center, we are lucky enough to have all 3 classifications of turtles! All available on our tours for all to see! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Weโ€™d like to remind everyone that the coastal bend is home to Sea Turtles, Tortoises and Terrapins! Just about anywhere you go youโ€™ll be able to spot them in the wild! ๐ŸŒŠ๐ŸŒณ

That being said, we share the same coastal bend home with them so it is our duty to protect them! If you come across an injured turtle, we will bring them in and rehabilitate them to release them back into the wild where they belong! ๐Ÿค˜
