We suddenly find ourselves IN NEED of TWO WHEELCHAIRS! Our attraction is wheelchair accessible, having two faithful models for years. But one just lost its wheels; the other no longer stable--a surprise to our budget! Frequently, traveling guests arrive with a need. If a local hospital, clinic, doctor's office, assisted living center (etc) might be getting new ones, & could rehome older models--the Botanical Gardens would gladly accept either motorized or manual donations! We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Please call MaryJane or Kathie, 361-852-2100, to help. Many thanks!

VISIT SOON TO SEE . . .'PLUMERIA RHAPSODY'!
Plumeria love heat, sun, drainage; but dwarf varieties like Rhapsody need less water! It creates dense clusters of 4" pink blooms with thin pink edge, bright orange centers & strong basil fragrance! The Plumeria Garden has 90 gorgeous plants loving this weather! β˜€οΈ
~~GIANT CROWN OF THORNS, in front of Gift Shop, is often 3-4’ tall in pots, with larger leaves, blossoms & simple 1" flowers with 4 round petals around a small yellow center of stamen & pistil. Breeding allows more colors--traditional red, oranges, yellows, whites, & marbled or splotched versions.
~~Native GREEN-HEADED CONEFLOWER has green centers instead of usual dark brown. Dark green leaves contrast with golden yellow flowers emerging in late summer or early autumn on stems 3+ feet tall. Each blossom is 3-4” across with cone-shaped greenish-yellow center & back-tilted petals hanging down around the β€œcone”, which turns brown as seeds ripen. Native to most of U.S., southern Canada. Growing in Butterfly Garden!🌻

WISH YOUR TEETH were this white? Meet our purple-lipped smiling flower, SNAPDRAGON VINE! This delicate, native vine often grows 3-5’ long with rose-purple blossoms. It can be trained on a fence or small trellis. Blossoms are shaped like snapdragons, but petals resemble a dragon snout with pearly whites! A larval plant for caterpillars of Common Buckeye butterfly is not usually found in nurseries, but occasionally at garden centers specializing in Texas native plants. In our EarthKind Demo Garden! πŸ˜πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
