CASA of the Coastal Bend’s mission is to advocate for the best interest of children in Nueces and Aransas County foster care. Who am I? I am YOU! A Child’s Life.

A CASA volunteer is a consistent presence in a child’s life during the process of the case. I am for the child who has been taken away from his parents for his own safety. I am for the child who is in her fifth, sixth, or seventh foster home. I am for the child who has never been told he is loved, or smart, or strong. 10 Hours of Zoom Training- Must Utilize Video
10 Hours of Pre-Work
10 Hours Homework/Review / Collaborative Family Engagement
3 Hours of Court Room Observation via Zoom

The first step in becoming a CASA volunteer is to attend an upcoming Virtual Info Session held every Wednesday at noon via Zoom.

Something special is coming to the table. ❤️

This October, CASA of the Coastal Bend will host The Child’s Table: Seats of Hope, our inaugural fundraising luncheon benefiting children in foster care across the Coastal Bend.

We’re already incredibly grateful for the community members stepping up to make it possible. A huge thank you to La Posada Foundation for generously supporting The Child’s Table and the work of CASA.

✔️ Day 2

There were so many incredible speakers today, but one story stayed with us.

Priscilla Shirer shared how an impala can jump 10 feet high and 30 feet forward, yet it can be held back by a much smaller barrier because it won’t jump where it can’t see the landing.

Sometimes our greatest limitations aren’t our abilities. They’re the barriers we’ve convinced ourselves we can’t overcome.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to learn from leaders who challenge us to think differently and bring those lessons back to the children and families we serve every day.

Day ☝🏽 of the Global Leadership Summit is in the books, and we’re walking away inspired.

One message that stood out came from Julio García, “Leadership is not a privilege. It is a conviction and commitment to the service of others.”

We’re so grateful for opportunities like this to grow as leaders so we can better serve one another, the children in foster care, the families we walk alongside, and our community.

What looks like dresses, crowns, and smiles is actually something so much bigger.

For the third year, Corpus Christi Rotary Club Evening has made it possible for children we serve to experience a pageant created just for them. Our "Yes to the Dress" was a beautiful success. Watching each girl light up as she finds the dress that makes her feel beautiful is a reminder that healing often begins with moments of joy, connection, and belonging.

Thank you to the Evening Rotary Club, Starla Harris Joslin, our sponsors, donors, volunteers, and everyone who helps make this experience possible. Because of your generosity, these girls are reminded that they are worthy, they matter, and they have an entire community cheering them on. Together, we're creating memories and building confidence that will last long after the dresses are put away.

CASA of the Coastal Bend is so grateful for Coach Rick Trevino and his team at the Nueces County Corrections Department on Trojan Drive.

Your generosity in collecting school supply items for our CASA children means more than you know. Our volunteers will be delivering these supplies directly to the children they advocate for — children who are navigating new homes, new schools, new friends, and a world that changed overnight.

Having quality school supplies helps them feel confident, prepared, and able to blend in during a time when everything else feels unfamiliar.
