đź’ś National Purple Heart Day đź’ś

Today, we honor the brave men and women who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

The Purple Heart is more than a medal; it represents courage, sacrifice, and a devotion to our nation that can never truly be repaid.

To every Purple Heart recipient, past and present: thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your courage. 🇺🇸

We remember. We honor. We are grateful. đź’ś

Fellow Officers & CCPD Family,

Please take a moment today and remember our fallen brother, Trace J. Weaver and his family in your thoughts and prayers as today marks the 3 year anniversary of Trace's End-of-Watch. Below is a narrative kept and read each month at the Association in Trace's honor. Trace is the fifteenth CCPD Officer killed in the Line-of-Duty while serving and protecting Corpus Christi. May God find peace for Trace, his family and the entire CCPD family at this difficult time.

Trace J. Weaver – August 7, 2023

On August 7, 2023, retired Lieutenant Trace Weaver succumbed to complications related to the injuries he sustained in the line of duty. While serving as a Patrol Shift Supervisor on May 12, 1997, Lieutenant Trace Weaver responded to an emergency call and was exposed to a dangerous chemical. Lt. Weaver retired from the department on June 30, 2003. Lt. Weaver joined the department on August 24, 1981, after serving in the United States Army. Lt. Weaver is survived by his wife of 40 years, and two sons.

Fellow Officers & CCPD Family,

Please take a moment today and remember our fallen brother, Ruben Almanza and his family in your thoughts and prayers as today marks the forty two year anniversary of Ruben's End-of-Watch. Below is a narrative kept and read each month at the Association in Ruben's honor. Ruben was the eighth CCPD Officer killed in the Line-of-Duty while serving and protecting Corpus Christi. May God find peace for Ruben, his family and the entire CCPD family at this difficult time.

Ruben Almanza – July 27, 1984
Ruben Almanza responded to a call for an armed robbery at HEB (Kostoryz at Gollihar). The suspect fled on foot into a residential area. During the foot pursuit, Ruben was ambushed by a suspect hiding behind a fence, and was shot and killed. The suspect was shot and killed by Officer Eric Wramp. Sgt. Almanza was 37 years old and had been assigned to the Special Services Division at the time. He had been with the department 9 years. He was survived by his wife and three daughters.
