September is National Su***de Prevention and Recovery Month.

Su***de and mental health struggles may seem like they don't affect us when we aren't directly involved. However, they affect families, friends, coworkers, first responders, and communities right here at home in Montezuma County.

In 2025, the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office responded to 4 su***de deaths and 11 calls involving attempted su***de or suicidal individuals. Behind every number is a person. A family. A life that matters.

Throughout September, we will be sharing information, resources, and reminders about su***de prevention, recovery, and the importance of reaching out.

You are not alone. Help is available. And asking for help is a sign of strength.

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 to reach a real human, not AI or a recording, at the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

The dispatch center is aware of the planned water service interruption today.
The affected area will include South Cedar Street from 5th to 7th Street and 6th Street between South Oak and South Cedar.
The temporary outage is planned for 9am to 2pm today. (Wed. Sept. 2, 2026)

9/2/26 10:35am - Water service has been restored to the areas listed below.

The Public Works Department will be conducting a planned water shutoff to complete a new water line tie-in as part of ongoing system improvements. During this operation, water service will be temporarily unavailable for customers in the affected area.
Wednesday, September 2, 2026
Time: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Affected Area: South Cedar from 5th to 7th Streets
EDIT: Increased affected area to include 6th Street between South Oak and South Cedar.

This temporary outage is necessary to ensure the safe and successful connection of new infrastructure. Crews will work to complete the project as quickly as possible to minimize disruption.

💦Residents are encouraged to prepare by storing any water needed for drinking, cooking, or other essential uses prior to the shutoff. Once service is restored, brief discoloration or air in the lines may occur—this is normal. Running cold water for a few minutes typically clears the issue.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve the reliability of the water system.
