Great big thank you to Robert and Ann for your contribution of Spider Woman Stories...Lovely surprise this weekend and a great read for anyone in the region. Headzup, folks, Spider Woman Stories is out there ... and so are the books. Intimate Grammars - An Ethnography of Navajo Poetry, by Anthony Webster. So much goodhearted ways of speaking information in Tony's academic book (see comment below photo of book for more); a perfect companion to Laura Tohe's narrative / poetry and prose, No Parole Today. Laura is Navajo Nation Poet Laureate, ) I have asked that the two books go out together and be returned together for other people to enjoy them. Both were contributed by the authors and we are so grateful for their support. Thank you, Laura, and Anthony. http://www.poetryfoundation.org/bio/laura-tohe

One of the first book in our LFL was A Lilly Lillies, Josey Foo and Leah Stein. It appeared one day and left the next. Wonderful to get the good work everyone is doing out into the world in this small effort and a big thanks to Josey for her support..... “So this topic of mapping, for as long as I can remember now, has been very interesting to me. I think each of us desires to map things positively. A child can be living among garbage and map that garbage in a way that must help his or her growth.
Leah does a lot of mapping with her dances. She stages performances in alleyways and loading docks and supermarkets. One season she staged in a penitentiary in North Philly, which was quite an experience: to put some sort of growth in places that are tombs, just to examine humanness by making collages of that kind. Friendships are collages.” – interview with Andy Fitch on the book, A Lily Lilies, poems by Josey Foo, notes on dance by Leah Stein. http://theconversant.org/?p=9607

Evenin' Anthony Webster. Damien Jones and I shared a cool little conversation this evening when we discovered we're both reading Intimate Grammars. He's in chapter 4 over there in his home with his copy. I am almost done with the one you sent which goes out to the LFL when Laura's books arrive (this week, she said). We talked and talked and are so grateful. Thanks so much for your good work, thought, heart and care.

SMH Saturday 10/10/15 Good morning, Everyone. My Goodness! Our own LFL is burgeoning this morning. Many books brought, some returned and many left so fast I didn't have a chance to tell you, but they will return, I am certain. If not we'll find additional copies. Luci Tapahonso, Sáanii Dahataał, The Women are Singing, and Blue Horses Rush and Art Goodtimes, Looking South to Lone Cone, The Cloudacre Poems. All three books are great reading, and especially critical to contemporary voice, place, time in southwest U.S. See notes on each author under the photo.

Good Morning! We have a slew of books to tell you about, contributions and those that have shown up after an exchange. First, David Feela, our beloved local author of poetry and short stories / columns came by with a book bag of his favorites. Top in the stack for us is a copy each of his two published solo books, The Home Atlas and How Delicate These Arches. See comments below each for more on how to find Feela's books locally and in the LFL...and him. More books will be posted later in weekend. A big thank you to Feela and his wife, Pam Smith, for their good company in our cultural travels.

Sunday evening, SMH. Waiting for the Super Moon Eclipse. Checking the LFL just after sunrise breakfast with a rabbit on my plate this morning (see my personal facebook wall: Sonja Horoshko) I found that Jan D. Dixon's poetry and photography book was out the door before I could announce its appearance. Hold Softly These Imaginings, Jan D. Dixon. See description beneath the photo, please. The other new book, is a vintage Pueblo Indian Cookbook, published 1972 by the Museum of New Mexico. See description under images for Piki Bread and Squash Blossom Soup. It remains on the second shelf, but I imagine it will trade out very soon.
