We’re so thankful to Osborne Flooring for donating flooring for the main room and bathrooms at the Grace Space!

Their generosity helped us create a welcoming, functional space for our guests and was an important part of getting our permanent location ready to open. Now, more than six months into serving the community from our permanent home, the Grace Space continues to provide a low-barrier daytime space for people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Cortland County.

Thank you, Osborne Flooring, for helping make the Grace Space a reality and for investing in a space that serves our community every day! 💙

It was another busy two weeks at The Grace Space from August 17 to August 28, where we logged 250 check ins from 83 individual neighbors. That brings our cumulative total to 3,679 visits from 253 unique community members since our doors first opened!

Building bridges to long term resources is at the heart of what we do. Throughout this two week stretch, our team facilitated 10 referrals, guiding participants toward medical and health services (5), alcohol or substance use support (4), and housing resources (1). We were also glad to have 4 visiting providers.

Our featured success story this round is a powerful reminder that real progress often unfolds on its own timeline, powered by consistency and patience. A staff member recently reconnected with a participant who shared some fantastic news: he officially followed through with a medical provider we originally referred him to over a year and a half ago! He made a point to share how much our persistent follow ups meant to him over time, noting that our ongoing support gave him the confidence to take that step for his health.

Keeping track of our supply distribution highlights the steady, hands on care taking place here every day. As always, every amenity, service, and supply item we provide is completely free of charge. Over these past two weeks, our team distributed 471 food items, 249 beverages, 121 personal hygiene essentials, 102 pairs of socks, and 25 items for unhoused neighbors across general, summer, and winter needs. Guests also made great use of our space, totaling 100 device charges, 43 showers, 34 loads of laundry, 21 storage bins, 13 lockers, and 10 pet crates.

To stay transparent with our community, we also track all safety and facility incidents. During this period, we experienced zero overdoses, law enforcement calls, medical emergencies, threats, mental health crises, non responsive events, or physical conflicts. To keep our space safe and welcoming for everyone, our team handled 2 minor internal rule violations and 2 substance use incidents.

We remain deeply grateful for our staff, visiting providers, and community supporters who make this essential care possible every single day!

Procrastination often happens when tasks feel too large or stressful to start.

Breaking projects into smaller, manageable steps can help reduce anxiety and build momentum.

Progress does not have to be perfect, it just has to begin.
