City of Cortland Office of Community Oriented Policing The City of Cortland's Office of Community policing, in partnership with the Department of Justice, began on January 9th, 2017.

The Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) is the component of the
U.S. Department of Justice responsible for advancing the practice of community policing by
the nation’s state, local, territory, and tribal law enforcement agencies through information
and grant resources. Rather than simply responding to crimes once they have been committed, community
policing concentrates on

preventing crime and eliminating the atmosphere of fear it creates. Earning the trust of the community and making those individuals stakeholders in their own
safety enables law enforcement to better understand and address both the needs of the
community and the factors that contribute to crime.

Come meet our officers, ask questions, share concerns, or simply stop by and chat. We’ll have a K-9, police vehicles, bicycles, and other equipment on site for community members to see and explore.

to Executive Director Kim Hill!!!
Kim has served the community for over 25 years helping those in need at Cortland Loaves & Fishes. She will be hanging up her apron serving her last meal on July 2 and leaving the building around 12:30. If you are familiar with Kim, you know
what an integral part of the community she has been.
Her shoes will be very hard to fill and meals will continue at Loaves & Fishes. Please reach out and wish her well in the new chapter of life she is ready to embark on.
