Our deepest condolences to Darrell’s family. We lost an amazing coworker and friend yesterday. Please keep his family and his work family in your thoughts and prayers. 🤎💙💛

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Deputy Darrell Henderson. Deputy Henderson passed away September 11th, 2021 at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso due to complications from COVID that he likely contracted while on duty in the jail.

Deputy Henderson was a beloved co-worker with a big smile, and a heart of gold. He treated everyone with respect and brought great spirit to the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Henderson was assigned to the corrections division, where he had 2 years of devoted service.

Thank you Darrell for your loyalty to your co-workers and your unwavering commitment to the Sheriff’s Office. You made work more enjoyable and will be dearly missed. Godspeed my friend.

We ask that you please keep Deputy Henderson, his family, and the members of the Sheriff’s Office in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Sheriff Brian BeGole

***FYI for residents in Caledonia and Owosso townships***

Consumers Energy will be venting gas on Cook road today. They have stopped for now but may be doing it again up until noon.

Edited to add: We know they already did it once, we were notified ahead of time but usually it is not as loud or visible so we rarely get calls about it. This post is more for those who didn’t call and to let everyone know they may be doing it again.

Thanks.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING SHIAWASSEE 911! Thank you Shiawassee 911 Dispatchers for all that you do! Thank you for giving up your time with family and friends during the holidays to keep your community and your responders safe!
You guys did a hell of a job yesterday with that fire call in corunna. Great Work
Shiawassee Central Dispatch/Emergency 911, I hope you all had a good week last week and were able to pamper yourselves with the goodies that I dropped off. This was a small token of my appreciation for everything you men & women do for the residents of Shiawassee County and beyond.
My elderly mother keeps getting a call from 1-800-717-1593, Officer Ryan Smith stating he is with the IRS. I called the number and clearly this is a scam and they only want your Social Security Number. They tell you they have issued an arrest warrant and my local Sheriff will be picking me(her) up. People need to know the IRS will not call you, they only send official letters in the mail.
Thank you for your prompt response in sending Animal Control. Greatly appreciated. You Rock!!!!!
