09/09/2020

Currently there are no evacuation orders in Benton County. What exactly are each of the evacuation levels and what do they mean?

LEVEL 1: A Level 1 Evacuation means "BE READY" for potential evacuation.

Residents should be aware of the danger that exists in their area, monitor your telephone devices, local media sources, and county website and social channels to receive updated info. This is the time for preparation and precautionary movement of persons with special needs, mobile property, pets and livestock. If conditions worsen, public safety will issue an upgrade to a level 2 or 3 for this area.

LEVEL 2: A Level 2 Evacuation means "BE SET" to evacuate.

You must prepare to leave at a moment's notice. This level indicates there is significant danger in your area, and residents should either voluntarily evacuate now to a shelter or to family/friend's home outside of the affected area. If choosing to remain, residents need to be ready to evacuate at a moment's notice. Residents MAY have time to gather necessary items but doing so is at their own risk.

This may be the only notice you receive.

Continue to monitor your telephone devices, local media sources, county website and social channels to receive further info. If conditions worsen, public safety will issue an upgrade to level 3 for this area and will make every attempt to return to this location with the new upgrade notice.

LEVEL 3: A Level 3 Evacuation means "GO" Evacuate NOW.

Leave immediately!

Danger in your area is current or imminent, and you should evacuate immediately. If you choose to ignore this notice, you must understand that Public Safety Officials may not be available to assist you further. DO NOT delay leaving to gather any belongings or make efforts to protect your home.

This may be the last notice you receive until the notice is cancelled or downgraded.

Thank you to all our first responders and emergency management teams for keeping our communities safe and prepared. There is a free Emergency Management/Preparedness app on the App Store. Its called the Emergency Ready App and can be downloaded for free at https://emergencyreadyapp.com/. It’s a great tool that allows people to customize their specific emergency kits and emergency response plans so they can prepare for the unforeseen. It also comes with built in features like pre-loaded emergency kit tools and plans. I thought this may be an excellent tool for folks in our community in addition to what our Emergency Management Team already has in place. Thanks again for all you do and continue to support our men and women in blue.

Get Outside and Get Healthy, People! Viruses Can Breed Indoors! Duh! Wearing masks on hiking trails? Come on, People don't let your goody-goody hocus-pocus paranoia get away from you! Hiking and breathing outdoors is a perfectly normal and natural way to boost the immune system that will naturally help people fight off the virus and other diseases! We need oxygen to live! Breathe deep!
Benton County Parks double booked reservations at Salmonberry Campground. Steve and I would suggest you confirm your reservations, as our family reunion reservations (5+ sites) were not transferred directly to their new system. So they say we are out of luck, even though we made reservations on Sept. 2019.

When is Benton county going to get a new jail.
Hi
I was abused at Benton county jail in Corvallis....a spent 14 hours in a freezing jail cell with out a bed mat or a blanket....it was so cold that I could see my breath....
A new replacement CPI utility pole on the NW corner of 53rd and Reservoir is blocking the crossing signal when viewed from the crossing button on the SW corner. The signal can be viewed, but only from a small portion of the SW corner sidewalk and not where people would generally find themselves if pushing the button to cross. Not sure if the replacement is larger than the old pole or is in a slightly different location.
So, is it OK if I build things and hammer steel pipes into the road behind the post office in Alsea? Seems to be OK for some of us- except me? How about if I put a few RV trailers out back? I could use the extra income, too. After all, it's "for the greater good"...?
