With the office closed to the public, we ask that all exhibits are picked up on 9/8. Leaders are more than welcome to pick up their club members’ exhibits but families and leaders need to communicate with each other so there isn’t any confusion why an exhibit has already been picked up. If you are unable to attend you will need to contact the office to schedule an appointment.

The 4-H Team would like to say a big thank you to all of the volunteers, family members, and youth who made this year’s 4-H Fair a success!

The volunteers who gave countless hours to provide a positive experience and learning environment, the families who supported the 4-H members prepare for and manage the craziness of a county fair, and the 4-H members themselves who were flexible and understanding throughout while bringing amazing energy to every part of fair.

We’ve missed seeing everyone in person and it was great for us to get to spend Horse Fair, FCSAS judging, and the 4-H Fair with the folks that make Benton County 4-H great. We couldn’t do it without all of you!

The Benton County After Fair Fairgrounds Clean Up will be on THURSDAY, August 12 at 8AM – this is a different time than what we originally had posted due to the excessive heat warning.

We know some folks will be at work, but if you are free, we really could use your help!

Please bring your gloves, brooms and any blowers (backpack blowers are great if you have them!) to help clean up shavings.

Also, we will be stacking panels on pallets this year, so please bring your gloves. We will provide bottled water.

Plan on being out there for about 1.5 hours.

Thanks in advance everyone!

☀️ Keeping cows, sheep, chickens, pigs, goats, horses, and other livestock cool isn’t rocket science, but it takes some planning.

Heat stress can occur anytime the mercury rises above 80 degrees Fahrenheit or so, especially for animals being worked, confined in close quarters without ventilation, or lacking access to shade.

Make sure you:
🚰 Supply your animals (and yourself) with clean and cool water
🌳 Have shade available in your animal's pens/enclosures and if your animals are housed indoors increase airflow with the use of fans.

Stay hydrated! 👍

06/19/2021

This year camping at the 4-H Fair is going to be hosted by the Benton County Fairgrounds, not 4-H.

The Oak Grove will not be available for RV parking. Additionally, this year, there will be limited RV camping available.
This year, 4-H families are encouraged to travel back and forth from the fairgrounds if possible, rather than camping, due to limited camping, and minimizing COVID health risks.

Are you interested in staying overnight at the fairgrounds? 4-H is collecting information and names to share with the Fairgrounds. Please go to the following link to complete a survey: https://oregonstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6RsDTcVTbz1mcHI
Please respond to the survey no later than Sunday, June 20th.

This is your opportunity to declare your interest in either RV camping and/or tent camping. There is no guarantee that RV camping will be available. However, it is highly likely that tent camping will be available to all that request it.

General information

4-H is an informal, educational youth development program conducted by the Oregon State University Extension Service, as authorized by federal and state statutes. In each county, local Extension staff has the authority to administer the program in accordance with University and Extension policy. Extension staff members work with advisory groups to provide a program that meets the county needs. Members belong to a club/group led by volunteer leaders and take part in club activities such as community service, educational tours, and fun events. In addition to club activities, there is a wide variety of enrichment activities offered at the county, state, national, and international levels. 4-H leaders are trained volunteers who have enrolled with the Extension Service. They present information provided by Extension and Oregon State University. Publications your child receives for use with 4-H projects are developed by Extension faculty or other resource people. 4-H helps young people discover and develop life skills and set personal goals. Involvement in project areas gives members the help needed to improve specific skills and explore new ones. Activities within clubs also introduce members to the importance of helping others through community service.
