NEW MEMBER ALERT: Healing Motion Physical Therapy
@Healing Motion Physical Therapy was established in 2005 by physical therapist, Eileen Tokuda. She was the sole clinician, joined only by her husband, Craig Tokuda. They each wore many hats in the beginning, operating the clinic by themselves to minimize start-up expenses.
The name “Healing Motion” came out of the desire to communicate the skills and expertise of physical therapists as “movement experts,” empowering clients through exercise, hands-on care, and education. Eileen hoped patients would desire a more active role in their recovery process through being compliant with an active, progressive, movement-based recovery program – hence the original slogan “Moving to a Healthier You.”
Please welcome them to the Chamber!

“I’m gonna drop some quick and dirty truth and honesty. Restaurants are struggling. Us included. For a lot of restaurants, every day that they open their doors could be their last day open. Between struggling to find supplies, paying ridiculous prices on what can be found, trying to maintain a staff, and keeping up with new regulations that seem to be constantly changing, it’s more difficult than ever to run a restaurant. We appreciate all the support that we’ve received, and we urge you all to go out and support your favorite restaurants. It’s entirely possible they won’t survive the summer. But when you do, please, please, please have some patience, show some courtesy, and thank them for their hard work and for doing their best to keep up. A kind word and a smile go a long way. We hope everyone has a wonderful Independence Day!”
Shout out to our newest member Edward Jones - Samuel F Niesslein Jr for joining the Chamber!!
As an Edward Jones financial advisor, he believes it’s important to invest his time to understand what you’re working toward before you invest your money. It's also important to understand the level of risk you're comfortable accepting when investing so he can balance it with the steps necessary to reach your long-term goals.

Governor Kate Brown announced today that Oregonians statewide will be required to wear face coverings in indoor public spaces, beginning this Wednesday July 1. The guidance applies to businesses and members of the public visiting indoor public spaces. Face covering requirements are already mandated in eight counties.
“From the beginning of the reopening process, I have said that reopening comes with the risk of seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases beyond our health systems’ capacity to test, trace, and isolate them,” said Governor Kate Brown. “Over the last month, we have seen the disease spread at an alarming rate in both urban and rural counties. The upcoming July 4th holiday weekend is a critical point for Oregon in this pandemic, and we can all make a difference.
“Modeling from the Oregon Health Authority shows that if we don’t take further action to reduce the spread of the disease, our hospitals could be overwhelmed by new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations within weeks.
“The choices every single one of us make in the coming days matter.
“Face coverings that cover your nose and mouth play a critical role in reducing the spread of this disease because droplets from our breath can carry the virus to others without us realizing it. If we all wear face coverings, practice six feet of physical distancing in public, wash our hands regularly, and stay home when we are sick, then we can avoid the worst-case scenarios that are now playing out in other states.
“I do not want to have to close down businesses again like other states are now doing. If you want your local shops and restaurants to stay open, then wear a face covering when out in public.
“Please keep your Fourth of July celebrations small and local. We saw a lot of new COVID-19 cases following the Memorial Day holiday. Another spike in cases after the upcoming holiday weekend could put Oregon in a dangerous position.
“Oregonians have all made incredible sacrifices over the last several months that have saved thousands of lives. The actions we take now can protect our friends, neighbors, loved ones, and fellow Oregonians from this disease, and prevent the need for another statewide shutdown. We are truly all in this together.”
Oregon Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) will take the lead, along with other state and local agencies, in enforcing face covering requirements for all covered Oregon businesses.
Gov. Kate Brown announced Monday that she will require Oregonians to wear face masks everywhere in the state -- not just a handful of select counties -- to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Brown said her new order takes effect Wednesday, and requires people in Oregon to don a mask whenever they’re in a public indoor space, such as grocery stores, gyms and shopping malls.
Gov. Kate Brown says masks must be worn in all indoor public spaces.

The Chamber expressed it's thoughts to the city council last week, as it pertained to the 'paying to save the Van Buren bridge' project. We feel that (approx.) $12M could be better utilized in the community, especially among small business retention and growth.
That said, we also want to be transparent that there is another train of thought which should be heard.
