Happy Spring! We will be hosting a Tomato stand at the Corvallis Youth House today Wednesday 5/21 and Friday 5/23 from 11am-3pm.

We are asking for donations for plants - pay what you can style. Please bring smaller denomination bills if possible.

Summer is always fun here in the garden, but did you know that we also have summer programs that occur off site? Our summer work experience in Alsea just wrapped up last week.

This six week program is a partnership with Alsea School and community partners in Benton County. Participants in this program work on a variety of natural resource projects including helping our local fish hatchery, helping with maintenance and upkeep of county parks, and this year beautifying Alsea memorial garden. Thanks to our awesome crew leader Tammy - the crew also helped out with some much needed landscaping tasks at the Yachats Fire Department, in return they got to learn a little about fire fighting and emergency medical response. Thank you to Tim O'Neil for showing us the ropes.

This crew did fantastic work this summer, we hope that members of the community get to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Crew members engage in weekly workshops to learn about budgeting, careers of interest, and resume writing. They also earn their First Aid & CPR Certifications. They will also be earning school credits for hours worked.

Looking to make a positive impact on the environment, learn about natural resource jobs, AND earn money? Join our Fuels Reduction Crew today and help reduce the risk of wildfires in our region!

*Must be 18-26 years old*

Program participants will:
- Explore forestry and natural resources careers
- Talk with professionals in the field
- Learn how to create defensible space around buildings
- Gain certifications in wilderness first aid, OHSA 10, chainsaw safety, and more
- Earn $16.50/hour

Hello Friends of the Garden,

We have some very exciting news for you. CSC's Youth Workforce & Education program recently received funding from the Oregon Conservation Corps to fund crews in Linn, Benton, and Polk county to do Wildfire Prevention work. These crews will work to reduce fire risk by removing fuels that can burn during a fire.

If you know any 18-26 year old who may have an interest in working outside or learning more about forestry send them our way!

Did you know that the CSC Youth Garden is part of a larger program at CSC? We work closely with our colleagues in CSC's Workforce and Education program to support 16-24 year olds in Benton County gain work experience and find employment.

We are currently looking for additional youth in our area who may need assistance with reengaging in education (either completing a HS diploma or GED), gaining work experience, or getting some hands on training.
