Peace Corps at Oregon State University

Peace Corps service is a life-defining leadership experience. Since 1961, the Peace Corps has shared with the world America's most precious resource – its people. Peace Corps volunteers live, learn, and work with a community in one of more than 70 countries overseas. The Peace Corps is a 27-month commitment during which volunteers provide technical assistance in six program areas: education, agriculture, environment, health, youth and community development, business and information and communications technology. The Peace Corps office at Oregon State University is the place to start your journey with the Peace Corps. Life is calling. How far will you go?

Mission: In 1961, President John F. Kennedy established the Peace Corps to promote world peace and friendship. Three goals support the Peace Corps mission: (1) Helping the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women. (2) Helping promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served. (3) Helping promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans.
