Congratulations to our Director , Willie Elfering! Today, Willie was the recipient of the Student Impact Award. Over the last 11 years at OSU , Willie has gone above and beyond for the military connected population. Under Willie’s leadership the military and veteran resource center went from a small office space to an expansive center , giving military connected students a home at OSU. The Holcomb Center provides community , resources and support to military connected students , especially Veterans after leaving the service. With Willie’s guidance and support , the Holcomb Center has produced 4 Student Veterans of America leadership fellows, a VFW/SVA legislative fellow and has made OSU the only institution to have two recipients of the National Student Veteran of the Year Award. Willie makes the Holcomb Center what it is, but if you ask him he is just taking care of family.

As Student Veteran Association President , and LGBTQ+ Veteran coordinator Nikki’s tireless advocacy and dedication the veteran community lead them to this moment and we are so proud that Nikki calls Oregon State University home and we are lucky to have them.
