It's time to plan the 34th annual Corvallis Community Christmas Parade! It will be on Saturday, November 24th at 7:00 PM (i.e. - two days after Thanksgiving). The parade will travel north on Fourth Street from Washington and end at Jackson . A celebration of songs
and lights will follow the Parade at the Benton County Courthouse.
Click this link to download and complete your entry before Sunday, November 18th.
We are pleased to announce the Grand Marshal this year is local corporate leader, civic activist, and generous philanthropist Ken Pastega. Ken has helped lead many Pastega Family contributions to make our community a better place, most recently teaming up with Samaritan Hospital to provide a bus for health screenings. For several years, Ken has led the big project to refurbish and display the Pastega Christmas Lights at the Fairgrounds. Thank you, Ken , for honoring the parade as our Grand Marshal. Our parade theme is "HOORAY PASTEGA CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!". How many ways can all the characters in the Pastega Christmas Lights display can be portrayed?
We encourage the use of music of all types, including bands. Awards will be given in the following categories:
Santa's Choice - Best Use of Theme
Mayor's Choice - Best Commercial Float
Judge's Choice - Best Use of Lights
Commissioner's Choice - Best County Entry
Corvallis Lions Choice - Best Nonprofit/Civic Club entry
Downtown Corvallis Association's Choice - Best Use of Music
There will also be awards for:
Best Non-Float Entry
Best Entry with Animals
This is a night parade so lights are an important part of entries. Light 'em up bright and colorful!
To be judged, you must be in the lineup by 5:45 PM. The parade begins at 7:00 PM. For safety reasons, please have very large entries such as trucks pulling trailers and semis in position by 5:30 PM. The line-up will be along Washington, from 4th to lIth. You will receive a letter via email the week of the parade that will include a map showing your place in the line-up.
NO SANTA ENTRIES - one Santa is enough and we already have one, plus Mrs. Santa.
NO CANDY CAN BE THROWN! Have walkers pass it out for safety.
Horse entries must have their own insurance and provide proof to the Parade Committee.
The entry fee is $25 for a business and $15 for non-profits and individuals. Please make checks payable to Corvallis Lions Club. Your entry fee is used to offset parade expenses and help improve the parade. I hope you will accept our invitation to join us on Saturday, November 24th, for the Corvallis Community Christmas Parade!
Please come join us to help clean up the camp. We are trying to quickly get it ready and safe, so we can support our friends and neighbors up the canyon who have been displaced by the fires. A local Disc Golf group is planning a benefit tournament to raise money. We need to make the course ready and safe also.
Please click on the link to the event, and let us know if you can help. That way we can make sure we have enough food. If you are planning to bring truck, trailer or heavier equipment, please make a comment on the events page. If you have a special skill, please let us know but everyone is invited. We have a few widowmaker snags and need a professional to drop them.
