Wednesday, March 18, 2026 - First Day to Publish Election Notice & Absentee ballots may be mailed or voted in person in your Auditor's Office.
* Wayne County will be administering this election for Clarke County
* Decatur & Lucas county will administer this election themselves.

Monday, March 23, 2026 - Voter pre-registration Deadline
- Deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed
Friday, April 3, 2026 - Deadline for publication notice

Tuesday, April 7, 2026 - ELECTION DAY
* Wayne & Clarke County residents will vote at the Humeston Community Center

The Primary Election
Tuesday, June 2 2026 from 7AM to 8PM.

The Primary Election is held to determine the Party Candidate who qualifies to move to the General Election Ballot in November 2026.

Candidate Filing Period is March 2 – March 20, 2026 (5:00 PM).
Candidate Guide and Documents are available from the Secretary of State or the local Auditor’s Office.

Candidate forms must be filed with the Auditor’s Office.

You will vote at your regular polling location except for the residents of Lineville. You will vote at Lineville Community Ctr.
Polls are open 7AM to 8PM.

If you need to vote an absentee ballot, the Auditor's Office are accepting absentee ballot request forms now.

1st Day Absentee Ballots can be mailed or voted in-person is Wednesday, October 15th.

Last Day to submit an absentee ballot request form to have an absentee ballot mailed is Monday, October 20th @ 5PM.

October 20th is also the last day to pre-register for this election.

Wayne County will be accepting applications for the position of “Roadside Manager.” This position will report to the shop in Corydon and will primarily be assigned to sign maintenance and vegetation management. Qualified applicants must have a high school diploma, or GED equivalent, and a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire date. Qualified applicants must have a Category 1A (agricultural w**d control) and Category 6 (right-of-way) Commercial Applicator’s License, or the ability to obtain one within 4 months of hire date. Applicants must be able to pass the following post offer, pre-employment: FMCSA review, driving record screening, physical examination, background check, and drug test.
Job duties include, but are not limited to, activities such as lifting and moving heavy objects and other physical labor, operating construction equipment, installing signs, posts and barricades, spraying herbicides along roadsides, operating a flex-wing and/or boom mower on an agricultural tractor, operating a jack hammer, truck driving, snowplow operation, service heavy equipment, and other activities related to road maintenance. Applicant should be comfortable working outside in both hot and cold weather and have the physical capacity to work with large heavy objects/equipment for a full workday. The successful applicant may be assigned a snowplow route in the winter. Snow removal activities often require working overtime, including weekends.
Applicants must have a strong work ethic and desire to learn new skills. Experience operating heavy machinery such as motor graders, dozers, backhoes, heavy trucks, and agricultural tractors is desirable. An ideal applicant is someone with the above qualifications and equipment experience that is a hard worker, works well with coworkers and the public, and enjoys working outside.

Applications will be accepted at the County Auditor’s Office and/or Wayne County Engineer’s Office in Corydon until May 7, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. Qualified applicants will be interviewed by the Engineer.
