🚒☣️ Harrison County Hazardous Materials Training Exercise ☣️🚒

Firefighters and emergency responders from multiple agencies recently came together for a multi-county hazardous materials training exercise at Nachurs Alpine Corydon.

The exercise simulated an acid leak, allowing emergency personnel to practice hazardous materials response procedures, scene safety, incident command, interagency coordination, and mitigation efforts in a controlled training environment.

Exercises like these are critical in ensuring our first responders are prepared to safely and effectively handle hazardous materials emergencies while protecting our communities.

🚒** Motor Vehicle Accident with Entrapment**

Friday morning, your Harrison Township Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving an entrapped injured patient near the 4400 block of Highway 62 West.

Upon arrival, firefighters initiated extrication operations and successfully removed one patient from the vehicle without incident.

Ladder 1 and Engine 3 responded to the scene.

We thank Harrison County Hospital EMS and the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance and teamwork during this incident.
There were no other injuries reported from this incident.

🚒 HAZMAT TECHNICIAN TRAINING COMPLETE! ☣️

The Harrison Township Fire Department would like to congratulate our firefighters who successfully completed the Hazardous Materials Technician Course hosted by Anchorage Middletown Fire Department!

Throughout this training, our firefighters gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in hazardous materials response, containment, mitigation, and emergency operations.

This advanced training strengthens our department’s ability to safely and effectively respond to hazardous materials incidents while protecting our community, fellow first responders, and the environment.

👏 A special thank you to Anchorage Middletown Fire & EMS and all the instructors for providing this outstanding training opportunity!

🚒🔥 TRAINING TODAY. PREPARED FOR TOMORROW. 🔥🚒

Today, members of the Harrison Township Fire Department conducted multiple fire attack and search and rescue training evolutions at our Station 2 training facility.

Crews responded to a simulated two-story residential structure fire, working through realistic scenarios designed to strengthen teamwork, communication, and operational readiness.

Training focused on:
🚒 Initial fire attack and hose line advancement

🔥 Fire suppression tactics and coordination

🔎 Primary search and rescue operations

🧑‍🚒 Victim location, removal, and rescue techniques

📻 Crew communication and coordination between arriving companies

Each evolution challenged our firefighters to make quick decisions, work together, and perform their assigned responsibilities under simulated emergency conditions.

We train hard because when the call comes in, preparation makes the difference.

Our commitment to continuous training ensures we remain ready to protect the lives and property of the community we proudly serve.

🔥 HOUSE FIRE — E. HIGH STREET, CORYDON

Last Thursday at approximately 1:40 PM, Harrison County 911 began receiving multiple calls reporting a house fire in the 300 block of E. High Street in the Town of Corydon.

Fortunately, a nearby neighbor was home and noticed the fire beginning on the exterior of the residence. Their quick recognition of the fire and immediate call to 911 allowed firefighters to respond before the fire had an opportunity to spread further throughout the home.

Ladder 1 arrived on scene approximately three minutes after being dispatched. Firefighters immediately went to work, quickly locating and attacking the fire. Within approximately five minutes of the initial 911 dispatch, the fire had been extinguished.

The quick actions of the neighbor who spotted the fire, combined with the rapid response of our firefighters, helped prevent a developing fire from becoming a much larger incident. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

We would like to extend a special thank-you to the assisting agencies who helped support the response, including Harrison County Hospital, EMS, Lanesville Fire Department, and Harrison County 911 Dispatch.

Every second counts in a fire. If you see smoke or flames, call 911 immediately and stay a safe distance away. Early notification can save lives and property.

🇺🇸 September 11 — We Will Never Forget 🇺🇸

Today, Harrison Township Fire Department joins fire departments and communities across our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We especially honor the 343 FDNY firefighters who answered the call and made the ultimate sacrifice at the World Trade Center. They climbed the stairs while thousands were making their way to safety—demonstrating courage, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to others.

We remember the firefighters, law enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members, and civilians whose lives were lost, as well as the countless first responders who have suffered and died from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero.

343 firefighters. 343 heroes. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.

From all of us at the Harrison Township Fire Department, we honor their memory today and always.
