Heavy rain has caused flooding, road closures and washed-out bridges in parts of Indiana. If you encounter a flooded roadway, do not drive through it.

Just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle off the road, and floodwaters may hide washed-out pavement, debris or other hazards beneath the surface. Never drive around barricades or road closure signs.

Turn Around. Don't Drown. Your destination is not worth the risk.

Residents of Harrison County are asked to contact Indiana 211 by calling 2-1-1 (or 866-211-9966) or by going to on.in.gov/IN-211 to report flooding and storm damage that occurred June 9-10, 2026.

Collecting assessments via this process will help the Indiana Department of Homeland Security determine damage estimates and develop the next course of action in the disaster recovery process.

Currently, only residents in Harrison County should utilize Indiana 211 for June 9-10 damage reports. Other counties should reach out to their local emergency manager.

All agriculture damages need to be reported to the local USDA Farm Service Agency contact. If you don't who your contact is, the USDA has a location tool.

If you are in need, stop by the fire station at 120 Hilltop Dr between the hours of 8am and 8pm. Special thank you to Harrison County Highway Dept and Shireman Construction for providing the equipment to unload water today!

FLASH FLOODING TRIGGERS MULTIPLE WATER RESCUES ACROSS LANESVILLE AND CORYDON

CORYDON, Ind. — Tuesday, emergency crews from multiple agencies responded to widespread flash flooding and numerous water rescue operations across the Lanesville and Corydon areas after a sudden 8-inch rainfall event caused creeks to rise rapidly and inundate homes, businesses, and roadways.

Tuesday, just after 12 PM, HTFD received multiple water rescue calls as flash flooding rapidly developed across the Lanesville and Corydon areas. HTFD crews had been assisting the Lanesville Volunteer Fire Department with search and rescue operations after the area was struck by a sudden 8-inch rainfall event. The intense rainfall caused Little Indian Creek to rise quickly, flooding homes, businesses, and vehicles in downtown Corydon. These rapidly changing conditions created dangerous and life-threatening situations for residents and motorists throughout the area. Downtown Corydon was shut down for the entirety of this event to ensure public safety.

At 1:53 PM, your HTFD responded to multiple simultaneous rescue incidents involving victims trapped in vehicles and homes on Poplar Street, Walnut Street, Chestnut Street, Beech Street, Mulberry Street, Valley Road, Highway 62, and in the Crescent Hill Drive subdivision. Swiftwater rescue technicians and partnering agencies worked together to safely evacuate trapped residents and assist those impacted by the flooding.

This event serves as a critical reminder that floodwaters can rise rapidly and become life-threatening within minutes. Never drive through flooded roadways, and always obey road closures and emergency warnings.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, numerous residents were brought to safety. We also thank our community for its patience, cooperation, and support throughout this incident.
